DOOM: The Dark Ages Story Plot
DOOM: The Dark Ages reveals yet another chapter in the Slayer’s long and bloody history as a destroyer of demons, this time seemingly from a time before the fall of Earth and Mars and the discovery of Argent Energy.
As hinted at by the game’s official announcement trailer, this game is set in a time when the Slayer was the superweapon of gods and kings, and his arsenal reflects this period with the introduction of dragons, a greater focus on medieval-age melee weapons, and a revamped look.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Gameplay
DOOM: The Dark Ages’ gameplay is as brutal, savage, and visceral as its predecessors’, with plenty of new weapons and gameplay features reflecting the inherently less advanced age of the game’s setting. The game still features the franchise’s frantic gunplay, but now also introduces a greater focus on melee combat, as seen with the Slayer’s new chainsaw shield and flail.
Parries, charges, and shield blocks are new features as well, allowing the slayer to utilize his new shield to its full potential and giving him a more defensive playstyle while not shooting. Among the other new weapons showcased is a gun that ejects bone shards from ground-up skulls, a plasma rifle of sorts, and a stake launcher that fires metal rods at high velocity. The Slayer now also has a flail to replace his crucible sword.
Other showcased gameplay features include dragon-riding, the franchise’s usual puzzle platforming, and even your very own Slayer Mecha!
