Exoprimal Features
Exoprimal Gameplay Trailer
Dino Survival Mode Mixes PvE and PvP Missions
Dino Survival is the primary mode of the Exoprimal. Here, two squads of five race to complete objectives. Some missions will have players fight each other, and others have players work together with their rivals to defeat a common enemy. The tasks change based on the players' progression through the game.
Players can unlock story sequences by playing Dino Survival and earn rewards such as experience points to increase player and Exosuit levels.
In Dino Survival mode you get several missions within each match, keeping each new round feeling fresh. The objective might be PvE focused where you have to fight dinosaurs, or the objective might be PvE focused and you'll have to fight other players. There are even escort missions thrown into the mix. With this level of variety, it really feels like the devs want to encourage playing the objective.
Dinosaur Outbreaks
While the story will reveal why dinosaurs are being transported to the year 2043, we can see that the dinosaurs being teleported in are pit against teams of players in chaotic yet satisfying deathmatches. Additionally, some dinosaurs have evolved into Neosaurs, all of which possess different deadly attributes.
As ridiculous of a concept as it is, fighting through hordes of dinosaurs that get dropped right on top of you sounds pretty entertaining.
Change Classes at Any Time With Exosuits
Exosuits are developed to combat the dinosaur threat. Each Exosuit has a defined role: Assault, Tank, and Support. Exofighters can change Exosuits anytime, even during battle, but that will give them a few seconds of vulnerability.
Being able to mix and match your Exosuits allows you to have the flexibility to alter team composition and complete objectives effectively.
This is perhaps the first game to allow us to change roles within matches, which is an absolute game changer for team play. Having the option to switch classes at any time allows for a high degree of flexibility and strategy, so this is a very welcome feature.
Customization
And yes, the game allows us to dive into customization. You can customize both your character and your Exosuit to your liking, although the character customization does feel a bit limited. Additionally gestures can be set for easy access so you can use them quickly.
Capcom ensured that your customized pilot can be seen in cutscenes and result screens, so you can feel more immersed (or you could choose to make the most distracting character that the customization will allow for).
Suit customization was given more thought as the combination of appearances for the suits can be tailor-made by the players to their liking.
Is Exoprimal Worth Buying?
Buy If You Enjoy the Blended PvE and PvP
From the trailers and available info so far, what surprised us the most was the idea that you get to fight Dinosaurs while in a high tech Exosuit. It feels like Pacific Rim but miniature. That along with class change flexibility mid-match and mission objectives being regulary switched between PvE and PvP, we find it hard not to recommend this game.
If you find the premise of fighting dinosaurs in the future to be a bit too hard to take seriously, then this game might not be for you, but credit where credit is due, Exoprimal has some fresh ideas that it brings to the table. However, we'll have to wait until release day to see if it can actually deliver on all of these promised features.
