Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe Comments on the Emergence of Palworld-Inspired Games
Thinks an Amazing Era of 'Palworld Clone Games' is on the Horizon
Takuro Mizobe, CEO of Palworld makers Pocketpair, recently took to Twitter (X) to share a screenshot of what he dubbed as a 'Palworld clone game' - Auroria, an upcoming game by Tencent-backed Chinese developer Tianjin Wumai Technology.
Auroria is an open-world, multiplayer, cooperative sandbox due to release for PC and mobile in the middle of 2024. In this game, players design their base, survive with pals, and embark on an interstellar journey. The game drew Mizobe's attention as a potential competitor to Palworld.
"In China, various companies are simultaneously developing mobile clones of Palworld," he remarked in the tweet, "Amazing times." Mizobe further expressed his views, noting the significant budget allocation for Auroria and comparing it to Palworld's.
With creature-catching games having 10 times the budget of that of Palworld, Mizobe said next year could see many games from various competitors flooding the genre. Even so far as commenting that these games could produce design quality comparable to that of Genshin Impact.
He further expressed his amazement and commendation in a separate tweet. "I'm proud that other companies want to make games like Palworld. The industry historically innovates when we borrow ideas from games we love."
Another Palworld Clone Game
After addressing and denying reports of him being supposedly accusatory, Mizobe continued to share footage of another Chinese game similar to Palworld called, 'Path of Rune,' and expressed his interest and amusement at the two's strong resemblance. Path of Rune devs describe their game as blending Zelda-style mechanics with creature-catching and open-world world-building. Last month, the Path of Rune team announced it is working towards releasing a demo version of the game.
