Lethal Company Fake Mobile Apps Plague App Stores

Lethal Company developer Zeekerss warns players of a fake mobile app that could be tracking user data across other apps and websites. Read on to learn more about what Zeekerss had to say about the matter and where to play Lethal Company.

Fake Lethal Company Mobile Apps Threaten User Privacy

“Most Likely a Scam”

Looks like the Skinwalker is real. A copycat of 2023’s breakout indie hit Lethal Company has popped up on several mobile app stores and the game’s developer thinks they might be a scam. A mod on the game’s official Discord server revealed that Zeekerss, the game’s developer, is already well aware of the copycat and that the mobile app “was made with no explicit permission and is most likely a scam of some sort.”

They also warned about posting the app’s store page link on the server, writing “We are pretty aware of this already and don't want more people to fall for any devious and malicious intentions that may be behind that operation.”

The copycat app — titled Lethal Company: Mobile Horror — is still listed in both the Apple App Store and Google Play at the time of writing. It’s currently sitting at over half a million downloads and a 3.6-star rating with over 5,000 reviews.

According to the Apple App Stores privacy header for Lethal Company: Mobile Horror, the app’s developer — Aytac Kahveci — indicated that the app’s privacy practices “may include handling of data across apps and websites owned by other companies.”

Lethal Company Available Only on PC

As of now, Lethal Company is a PC-exclusive game available on Steam only. Zeekers has also been extremely explicit about their lack of interest in porting the game to mobile or console, so don’t expect Lethal Company on either of those platforms any time soon.

In a similar turn of events, Pocketpair’s controversial game Palworld had its own mobile copycats popping up in mobile app stores.
