Square Enix has revealed its ambitious plans for the development of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake finale. Read on to learn tidbits and insights from the project's directors.
FF7 Remake Part 3 On Track to be Complete Within 3 Years
Storyline is Finished and VO Recording Might Start "Shortly"
According to an interview published in Final Fantasy 7 (FF7) Rebirth's companion book, the main storyline for the final title in the FF7 Remake Trilogy has already been finalized. Further details revealed, as transcribed by Twitter (X) user @aitaikimochi, that preparations are underway for voice recording and will commence shortly.
Yoshinori Kitase, producer and director of the FF7 Remake trilogy, attributed the relatively quick development process to the fact they had retained the same dedicated team as the previous installments—FF7 Remake and FF7 Rebirth. Kitase likewise revealed that FF7 Rebirth took 3 years to complete and hoped the team concludes development on the finale within the same timeframe, which gives them a potential release window of 2027 in the earliest case.
Additionally, Kitase hinted that "something important" that was absent in the original FF7 game could be making its way into the finale. While details were undisclosed, Kitase apparently proposed an idea to FF designer and director Tetsuya Nomura of including this important addition. Nomura believed "it will surely make people happy if they can do it well," according to @aitaikimochi's transcription.
