LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Overall Score - 82/100
I can’t imagine anyone giving Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP less than a solid 8/10. It’s an absolute blast—full of over-the-top violence and vulgar humor—and it doesn’t shy away from that label. The only real way to experience it is through Original Mode, where all the gore, crude language, and wild themes are fully intact. It’s a game that throws caution to the wind, ignoring the usual “appropriate” narrative structures common discourse seems to think are always required to fully embrace its campy, chaotic vibe.
LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Story - 9/10
If you're into B-Horror flicks with metric tons of cheesy one-liners, cringey moments, and a ton of romantic fanservice, you’re in for a treat. Lollipop Chainsaw’s narrative is designed to entertain and entertain only. It doesn’t need deep character development or complex plots—it’s about delivering nonsensical fun. And honestly? That’s what makes it work, and that’s what makes it great.
LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Gameplay - 8/10
Sure, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is just a "mere" remaster of the original, but that doesn’t diminish its entertainment value. If anything, it’s a nostalgic callback for fans of the game. Yes, it’s a bit clunky by modern standards, but it’s part of the charm of playing a remastered game. That said, the outdated controls can feel a little frustrating at times, so it’s something to keep in mind if you're thinking about buying it.
LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Visuals - 8/10
Apart from the gameplay, the visuals are where Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP shows its original version’s age the most. Sure, the remaster gave it a solid, rather gorgeous facelift, making everything look much sharper in higher resolutions compared to the original. But it still carries over some of the quirks from its predecessor, like the awkwardly static models during spinning animations. That said, considering its age, the game has aged pretty well. The zombies still have that perfect mix of comedic horror, the gore is still gloriously over-the-top, and, of course, Juliet still looks stunning as ever.
LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Audio - 9/10
The voice acting and soundtrack really steal the show here. The voice cast delivers their crude, vulgar lines with zero hesitation, which is a refreshing change with all the filtered and sanitized content we get nowadays. The soundtrack? Full of bangers you’ll probably want to grab the OST for. The sound effects are nothing special, though, and they do feel a bit lacking while they play next to the game’s amazing music and voice work.
LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Value for Money - 7/10
At $45, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is not exactly a bargain. But, it’s a fair price considering the unfiltered, goofy fun the game offers. There’s also a boatload of collectibles waiting for you to grind for, and multiple modes to keep you entertained. Just know going in that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP plays almost exactly like the 12-year-old game that it is. If you’re cool with that, though, then you should definitely get it.
LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Review: Glorious Blood, Guts, And Upskirt Shots
Ah, Lollipop Chainsaw—a game that didn’t quite get the recognition it deserved when it first hit shelves. At least, not enough of it in my opinion. But now, it’s back to bless us once more with its wild, unapologetic vulgarities. If you were a fan of the fine piece of art that was the original, you’re likely gonna love this one as well.
Originally planned as a remake, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP morphed into a remaster during its development under Dragami Games. Now, before you click away while thinking: Ugh, it ain’t a remake?
I honestly think it's the right move. The original Lollipop Chainsaw is only 12 years old; not ancient enough to need a total rehaul. Heck, we can’t even celebrate its coming of age yet. A graphical and mechanical facelift seems like the perfect middle ground for this particular gem.
So yes, the game still looks and plays like something from a decade ago. But that’s not a bad thing. Sure, some old quirks like the main character’s model staying rigid during some of her spinning attacks are still there, but you probably won’t notice that much when you’re slicing through hordes of zombies. But let’s backtrack for a second.
The story revolves around Juliet Starling, a high school cheerleader and a, uhh, zombie hunter. Most of her family, just as bizarre as she is, are also in the zombie-killing business. Her mom? Completely clueless to the chaos around them. Other than their secret side gig, the Starlings live pretty ordinary lives. Juliet’s got a typical teenage routine—cheerleading, studying for tests, a serious lollipop addiction, and of course, her boyfriend Nick Carlyle, who, like her mom, knows nothing about her "extracurricular activities." That is, until their school gets overrun by zombies. And after Juliet, in a fit of desperation, decapitates Nick and keeps his still-conscious head (with magic, of course) attached to her belt to stop him from becoming a zombie… she finally spills the beans.
It’s a very tongue-in-cheek plot that the game doubles down on to hilarious effect. The whole thing screams B-horror, with shamelessly unfiltered dialogue, low-budget-looking effects, and an absurdly chaotic plot. The voice acting is hilarious, too, with everyone—living and undead—delivering cringey one-liners with full commitment. It’s glorious enough to make you shed a tear.
Juliet’s combat style fits the theme perfectly, blending cheerleader flair with chainsaw carnage. You’ve got two, or rather, three basic attack types: pom-pom strikes (it’s exactly what you imagine it to be), chainsaw swings, and… whatever it is that her low-hitting attacks are. But while you might be tempted to stick to her iconic chainsaw attacks because they’re, well, iconic, they’re also painfully slow. Spam them, and you’ll end up getting slapped around by zombies before you can land a hit. The trick is to mix in the quicker pom-pom attacks in very risquely-animated combos.
Yes, there are metric tons of upskirts in this game. Innocent eyes, beware.
Despite what the trailers suggest, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's combat has more depth than you’d expect. It feels like a simple button-masher at first, but as Juliet’s moveset grows, you unlock new combos that add a real layer of strategy. The only downside? The game’s combo tooltips aren’t exactly helpful in understanding what they do. Honestly, just use them as an execution guide.
To unlock these combos and obtain other collectibles, you’ll be hitting up the Chop2Shop. This is where you can grab stat upgrades, costumes, music, hair colors, and more. But, of course, nothing in life is free. Trust me, I tried. Anyway, Chop2Shop runs on medals—Gold and Platinum—and farming for these is at the heart of the game’s grind.
Fortunately, grinding in Lollipop Chainsaw is anything but tedious. While getting Gold Medals is relatively straightforward, the key to farming the much more precious Platinum Medals is mastering Sparkle Hunting. It’s a combat mechanic that rewards you with medals for killing three or more zombies in a single attack. Simple in theory, but when there’s a swarm of zombies trying to grope Juliet’s butt, it's easier said than done. At least the bosses are easy as eating a lollipop to beat.
You’ve also got a killer soundtrack backing you up, packed with head-bopping bangers to keep you pumped while you watch the medals drop.
In the end, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a brilliantly over-the-top, delightfully crude, and wildly fun game that wears its ridiculousness like a badge of honor. It doesn’t pretend to be anything more than pure entertainment, and in a world where so many games chase some filtered, clean, businesslike look, it’s honestly no wonder that the original was and still is such a beloved classic.

Costumes For Days
If slicing through hordes of undead high schoolers in style sounds like your thing, then Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has you covered. Juliet’s got a wardrobe so packed with costumes, you’ll barely scratch the surface even after a few hours of grinding. And let me tell you—they all look damn good.
Now, unless you’re a die-hard collector, you probably won’t feel the need to snag every single outfit. Personally, I’m not a big fan of the Clown one. But the sheer variety is enough to tempt some players into grinding for those medals just to unlock a few more and look killer.
Hilariously Unrefined
Even as someone who plays a lot of fanservice-heavy gacha games, it's rare to come across a game that leans so heavily into foul, unfiltered, slang-heavy language (unless they’re the kind that tried too hard, like Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands). Maybe that’s why Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP’s unapologetic use of coarse words and vulgar slurs feels like such a refreshing break from the usual. The cringey one-liners and over-the-top jabs at the hot blonde cheerleader
stereotype are actually way more enjoyable because of it.
It’s like being back in high school, listening to all the trash talk and flirting flying around. And honestly? I find that absolutely entertaining.
Irrationality Can Be A Strength
If there’s one thing Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has in spades, it’s excitement. The game is an endless barrage of enemies, explosions, and random vehicles hurtling toward you from all directions, almost as if you’re a walking electromagnet for disaster.
And does any of what happens make sense? Not really—but who cares? Logic takes a backseat here, and it’s all about the fun. You don’t need to figure out the reason why school buses keep on trying to hit you even when their drivers have become zombies that could barely move their arms. The important thing is that they’re there. It keeps you on your toes in a way that’s fun and feels completely natural for the game. And that’s all that really matters.

Easy Boss Fights, Even On Higher Difficulties

Easy Boss Fights, Even On Higher Difficulties
Thanks to Juliet’s hitboxes when attacking, the sections where you face hordes of undead high schoolers are actually much tougher than most of the boss fights. The issue is that Juliet gets hitstunned way too easily. Once that happens, it’s open season for the surrounding zombies. To make things worse, she has very few wide-angle attacks and most of them only start after a specific input on your combos, so clearing out groups of enemies isn’t as simple as you’d hope. The moves designed to help her escape these mob situations are also oftentimes situational.
In contrast, boss fights don’t have the same problem. Most of the time, you can just dodge out of a boss’s combo and keep going without much of a hassle. You can even just run around and exploit their recovery periods. Sure, there are a few exceptions, but they’re the very small minority of the group.
Is LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP Worth It?
It’s worth an arm and a head
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP’s selling price of $44.99 isn’t very expensive. In fact, you can get it for even cheaper if you managed to preorder the game. And while the game’s age is quite obvious due to RePOP’s nature as a remaster, it’s still a wonderful game that you can derive quite a lot of entertainment from in just one or multiple dozens of sessions.
