November 21 is officially known as Eevee Day in Japan as well as the Pokemon Gold and Silver Anniversary! Read on to learn more about both celebrations.
Pokemon Japan Celebrates Eevee Day
What is Eevee Day?
Back in 2018, November 21 was officially named as Eevee Day in Japan. The idea behind the date is because of how the date, November 21 or 11/21, is read in Japanese. 1 can be pronounced as “ee” and 2 can be pronounced as “fu,” making 1-1-2-1 as “ee-ee-fu-ee.” As a result of this semi-similar pronunciation, this day and the days surrounding the date are in commemoration of everyone’s favorite brown furball. Its cute design and various “Eeveelutions” earned it its reputation as a fan favorite of the franchise.
Eevee’s rise to popularity can be attributed to a number of things, like its multiple appearances in the Pokemon anime with Ash’s traveling companions, Serena, Lana, and Chloe, each catching their own Eevee. It also became popular enough to become a starter choice for several games, such as Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Pokemon Conquest, and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Series. It solidified its own place as one of Pokemon’s official mascots with the release of Pokemon Let’s Go, Eevee! where Eevee is your main Pokemon partner in the game.
Eevee Day Celebration and Events
With Eevee Day comes several Eevee-focused events, merchandise, and ad campaigns. Pokemon Japan just announced its Eevee-themed menu items in the Pokemon Cafe. They feature a special Eevee-themed meal complete with different components that make up every evolution that Eevee has. In addition to this, they are also featuring lattes that show the art of Eevee and all of its evolutions.
In the games, Pokemon Sleep and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have several different events to celebrate Eevee Day. Pokemon Sleep features more Eevee spawns and its evolutions, as well as increased Shiny spawns. Special missions are also available related to Eevee, where you earn special rewards such as “Eevee Incense” and many more. These events will last from November 20 through November 26, dubbed Eevee Week.
On the other hand, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have a Mass Outbreak of Eevee throughout Paldea and Kitakami. These higher spawn rates come with different marks as well, depending on the region where they were caught. Lastly, there is also a Tera Raid Event, which offers players the chance to battle and catch an Eevee with the Mightiest Mark and its Hidden Ability, Anticipation.

November 21 is also the anniversary of Pokemon Gold and Silver, the second generation of the mainline Pokemon games.
