Dead by Daylight: Tools of Torment - Launch Trailer

Deady by Daylight released the twenty-seventh Chapter DLC, Tools of Torment on March 8, 2023. It features additional characters in the game such as the new Skull Merchant killer and two new survivors, Thalita Lyra and Renato Lyra.

The expansion will be accompanied by the free 6.6.0 update, which includes bug fixes, visual overhauls to several maps, and quality-of-life improvements. Here's the link for the complete 6.6.0 Update Patch Notes.

New Killer - The Skull Merchant

Adriana Imai, also known as the Skull Merchant, is the first killer in Dead by Daylight to use modern technology to hunt down her prey. Her power, Eyes in the Sky allows her to track survivors and scout the area using her four grisly drones made with skulls from her previous victims.

Compared to the other killers, her base kit and chase power are weak since the tracking ability doesn’t do much in competitive gameplay, and the drones only work if the survivors are in the zone. You can only use the Skull Merchant effectively in-game if you experiment with different perks and builds.

Two New Survivors

Thalita and Renato Lyra

The new chapter and DLC expansion introduce two new survivors, siblings Thalita and Renato Lyra from Brazil. Both characters offer unique teamwork perks that will activate as long as they remain in proximity with another Survivor. The visual design and character concept is great, but players are not impressed with their perks. Here's a list of them below:

Thalita's Perks

Perks Description
Cut Loose After performing a fast vault in a chase, you have a brief duration to perform silent fast vault.
Friendly Competition When you complete a Generator with any other Survivors, you and those Survivors will temporarily receive a small Generator repair speed boost.
Teamwork Perk: Power of Two When you finish Healing a Survivor, you will both receive a movement 5% speed boost within 12 meters for as long you remain together. The boost will end when you separate or one of you loses a Health State.

Renato's Perks

Perks Description
Background Player When the Killer picks up another Survivor, Background Player activates for a brief duration. The next time you start running, break into a sprint and gain a temporary burst of speed. This Perk causes the Exhaustion status effect and cannot be used while Exhausted.
Blood Rush Activates when you are one Hook away from death. When Healthy, you can press the Active Ability button to lose a Health State but instantly recover from the Exhausted Status. This process will temporarily grant you the Broken Status, though if you manage to survive that process, you’ll return to full health.
Teamwork Perk: Collective Stealth When a Survivor finishes Healing you, neither of you will leave Scratch Marks while you’re in close proximity. The benefit ends if you separate, or if one of you becomes Injured.
