Welcome to Game8 Connect, where we dive into the world of your favorite gaming content creators and explore the person behind the screen. Today, we interview SimplyMiPrii, asking about her favorite games and getting some details about her most beloved Minecraft Bedrock Edition add-ons.

Who is SimplyMiPrii?

SimplyMiPrii is a content creator on YouTube who specializes in reviewing the best addon packs available for Minecraft, especially its Bedrock Edition. She has more than 100,000 subscribers and has been active on YouTube since 2016.

"Prii," a shortened version of her actual name, Princess, told Game8 that the spark of inspiration for her channel came from watching Minecraft roleplay videos on YouTube when she was still in the sixth grade.

"I wanted to do roleplays for [Minecraft] Pocket Edition because [I'd] never seen those before, so, originally, I would do a bunch of Pocket Edition roleplays and write them and stuff," she said. "And that’s how I really got involved with the Bedrock [Edition] community."

SimplyMiPrii then started to think about the different kind of add-ons she would use in these roleplay videos, and that was what got her started with reviewing them on her channel.

"I just decided to share more videos, and I just started loving mods and stuff [but] I didn’t see a lot of Pocket Edition aesthetic mods. So I started sharing the ones that I could find… a lot of people started subscribing and liking the videos, so I’ve just been doing stuff like that ever since."

To date, the most watched video on SimplyMiPrii’s channel, "my favorite soft/cottage-core minecraft pe texture packs" has gotten more than 420,000 views. It showcases her top three Minecraft Pocket Edition texture packs that embody the charming and floral "cottagecore" aesthetic.

What Kind of Games Does SimplyMiPrii Like?

Image

SimplyMiPrii told Game8 that she was a big fan of games that allowed players to express their creativity, which was why she became devoted to playing Minecraft and working with its add-ons in particular.

"You could do so much," she said. "Especially since I cater more to the building and the decorating and things like that… I've always loved decorating, and I love that with add-ons, you can really do that."

Image

She also expressed her fondness for life simulator games as they allowed her to engage in immersive roleplays. For her, these experiences were reminiscent of the joy she found in playing with dollhouses during her childhood.

"When I was a kid, I loved Barbie and stuff like that, so when it’s in a game... you can have your own family to do everything: go to college, go to school… I love life simulator games," she said.

With that in mind, we asked SimplyMiPrii to tell us her top video games, and these were the five she had in mind.

SimplyMiPrii’s Favorite Games

5. Animal Jam

Image

A classic educational MMO from 2010, Animal Jam allowed players to play mini-games with friends, go on adventures, and hold parties while learning various facts about animals. Not only could you have multiple animal avatars, but you could customize their looks as well.

It’s very similar to the next (and, arguably, more famous) game on this list, but it also had a massive following in its own right with a lifetime total of 130 million players across both Animal Jam and its "Classic" edition.

4. Club Penguin

Image

The classic online social and life simulator game. Club Penguin has undoubtedly touched the hearts of many gamers, with more than 200 million registered users in 2013, and SimplyMiPrii said she was one of them.

In Club Penguin, you could waddle around as a penguin yourself, chat with other people, buy clothes, furnish your igloo, and even change the color of your penguin avatar. The game, unfortunately, shut down in 2017.

"I was so sad; I was surprised!" SimplyMiPrii said when asked about the shutdown. "I didn’t know that it was shutting down."

Currently, Club Penguin lives on in private servers like "New Club Penguin."

3. Pokemon HeartGold

Image

Pokemon HeartGold is the remake of the original Pokemon Gold Version from way back in 1996. This nostalgic gem, released on the Nintendo DS, introduced players to a fresh world with crisp 2D/3D graphics.

One particularly charming feature was the option to have one of your prized Pokémon accompany you outside of their Pokeball and walk by your side. Other great features included the Pokeathlon, where trainers can put their Pokémon's skills to the test in various athletic competitions, as well as the PokeWalker - a pedometer that counts your steps in the real world and interacts with the game itself.

Image

"I used to take my brother’s 3DS and I would play Pokemon HeartGold," SimplyMiPrii told Game8. "I looked it up now, and it’s considered vintage. So they sell it for 200 dollars on eBay. But the game… It was so much fun! I really loved it too because it was kind of like a simulator game."

Given the chance, SimplyMiPrii said that she wanted to collect the other versions in Pokemon franchise, such as Pokemon Red, Black and White, and play them once again.

2. The Sims 4

Image

The Sims 4 is the latest installment of the long-running Sims franchise, first releasing in 2014. This fourth major title introduces livelier Sims with unique personalities, fresh graphics, new furniture options, and other exciting features. Interestingly enough, SimplyMiPrii credits this game and its community for sparking her passion for mods.

"There are so many mods for Sims [4], oh my goodness," she said. "Like, decorations, some of them expanded character interactions. More things you can do with friends, with family. I love the little tweaks. There’s different ones that you can change, like, you have more food options, you have, of course, different furniture options, all of that stuff… The things I love in Minecraft are amplified in Sims 4. You can do everything."

SimplyMiPrii also mentioned that she periodically did The Sims 4 videos for her channel, though she ultimately wanted to focus on making videos for the next game on her list.

1. Minecraft Bedrock Edition

Image

Minecraft Bedrock Edition is the multi-platform version of Minecraft that can be played on systems that don’t support the original Java version. It’s on this version that SimplyMiPrii has found her passion - to curate and review the edition’s addons, texture packs, and other mods.

"The reason why I love Bedrock so much in (Minecraft) Pocket Edition was because it didn’t really have a huge community doing the addons and the mods in there yet," she said. "I just fell in love with Minecraft and seeing everything I could do with it."

Image

"Minecraft is such a classic game now. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t heard of Minecraft or played Minecraft," she said. "I would definitely suggest it because it’s so much fun. Especially if you’re just getting into it and you just want to play survival. That’s really the attractive part of it: The survival and just playing. It’s not even just the add-ons and stuff. That also comes later on if you’re into that. But really just Minecraft as a game, even if it’s only vanilla, is so much fun."

Of course, for those who are interested in getting their own add-ons for Minecraft, SimplyMiPrii has her own add-ons she recommends other players to check out.

SimplyMiPrii’s Favorite Minecraft Addons

Ghoulcraft CIT

Image

Don’t let the name fool you into thinking it's a horror add-on. Ghoulcraft is a Custom Model Resource pack (or CIT Pack) that changes the look of vanilla furniture in Minecraft, allowing you to decorate the world with various weapons, tools, furniture, food, and many other things. SimplyMiPrii said she downloads this pack since she primarily focuses on getting new furniture.

"When the Ghoulcraft CIT got ported to Bedrock, I really really loved that pack," she said. "I love it because [it has] all the aesthetics that I like on my channel; just the cute decorations."

Cocricot

Image

Cocricot is another resource pack and mod for Minecraft that contains different kinds of furniture, materials, and interiors to encourage players to build the home of their dreams! Most of the items range from modern-looking decorations, like road signs and glass cases, to antique furniture, like tables, grandfather clocks, and rustic sofas.

Though the Cocrioct mod is for Java and has not yet been brought to Bedrock, she still considers it to be one of her favorites. "It’s a really cute mod," SimplyMiPrii said.

MrCrayfish’s Mods

Image

MrCrayfish is a Minecraft content creator that makes furniture mods and other addons for the game. His most famous mod is the MrCrayfish Furniture Mod, which adds eighty pieces of furniture covering all parts of a house such as a kitchen, a bedroom, a dining room, and more.

More About SimplyMiPrii

Image

SimplyMiPrii said that she had recently embarked on making her own addons packs for Minecraft Pocket Edition/Bedrock Edition under what she called the "FAYE Project".

"I’ve been playing add-ons for so many years and reviewing them and showcasing them. Last year, I decided to produce my own addon project and it’s called the FAYE Project," she said. "It’s based on Fantasy for Minecraft Pocket Edition, and it’s kind of like my own play on addon packs, but I really wanted to keep it into my own style and things that I liked."

She added that she brought in many players from the Minecraft Bedrock Edition community to help with this project, which was recently announced in June. On the FAYE Project website, the team is said to be currently working on two add-on projects filled with decorations, accessories, and furniture.
