Leximan Overall Score - 94/100
Picture a wizard brewing up something special in their cauldron—tossing in a scoop of Undertale's charm, a pinch of Scribblenauts' creativity, and a sprinkle of Harry Potter's magic. The result? Leximan! A game that’s as enchanting as it is hilarious, with a heartwarming story, catchy tunes, and a world overflowing with creativity. It’s pure magic!
Leximan Story - 10/10
You're a wizard, Grublin! From start to finish, I was completely captivated by this underdog tale of lovable misfits. The story is surprisingly wholesome and full of sharp wit. There were so many moments where I found myself laughing out loud due to the hilarious dialogue, and yet, it also managed to tug at my heartstrings, making me deeply invested in the characters and their journey.
Leximan Gameplay - 9/10
Leximan’s combat is like if Bookworm and Scribblenauts had a magical mashup—full of clever wordplay and creativity that’s as fun as it is funny. But that’s just the beginning. The game is bursting with quirky puzzles, wild boss fights that give you serious Undertale vibes, and a ton of replay value. The only catch? It might be just a bit too easy.
Leximan Visuals - 9/10
The visuals in Leximan might give you a hint of Undertale, but it’s in a league of its own when it comes to creativity. Each level is a work of art, brimming with vibrant colors and imaginative designs that make every moment feel magical. The characters are unforgettable, with unique designs that bring them to life in ways that stick with you long after you’ve played. The attention to detail in this world is nothing short of enchanting, with every corner radiating creativity and care.
Leximan Audio - 10/10
Jake Whittaker is nothing short of a genius. His brilliance shines through in every aspect of the game—from the writing and design to the absolutely magical music. He deserves all the praise for creating something so incredible. Seriously, I need this soundtrack on Spotify, like, yesterday! And yes, there's a song in this game that’s just as jaw-droppingly amazing as Megalovania.
Leximan Value for Money - 9/10
At just $15, Leximan is an absolute steal—you’re getting way more than your money’s worth with this game. It’s a blast from start to finish, and if you’re an Undertale fan, it’s definitely going to fill that void and then some. This is a game that truly deserves to be in the spotlight.
Leximan Review: Undertale's Magical Brother
Ever since finishing Undertale, I’ve been on the hunt for a game that could capture that same mix of absurdity and emotional brilliance. While there have been plenty of games with a similar style, none have quite matched the unique experience of Undertale—until Leximan came along. I’m not kidding when I say this game might even surpass Undertale in some ways.
So, what’s Leximan all about? The game kicks off with you suffering from amnesia, finding yourself at the doorstep of Academy Elementinia—a school where young wizards craft and hone their magical skills. You’re greeted by the school’s head, Principal Elementine, a flamboyant and temperamental wizard who reluctantly admits you after you demonstrate your unique magic, Leximancy. This ability lets you conjure words and bring them to life in creative, and often hilarious, ways.
From the start, you feel like an outsider, and after a month of mishaps, you’re relegated to practicing magic in the basement. It’s there you meet a quirky group of friends, including Wressa, who quickly becomes a favorite character. She teams up with you for a prank on Principal Elementine involving a potion bomb.
Things take an unexpected turn when a time skip jumps forward ten years. You and your friends are still honing your magical skills in the basement when the school is suddenly attacked and set ablaze. Principal Elementine, now relying on you for protection, is locked in a fierce magical duel with Sparx—a former student of the school and someone Wressa seems to know.
In a climactic battle reminiscent of Harry Potter’s showdown with Voldemort, Elementine is pushed aside by his own ego, leaving the school to crumble around you. You and Wressa are the only ones who manage to escape. Now, it’s up to you to don your trusty hat, grab your lexicon, and step up as the outcast who saves the school.
This setup immediately hooked me and made me genuinely care about the characters and the mission to save the school. The game only gets better as you explore new locations, grow stronger, and uncover more about the world. What truly makes the story engaging is its tight writing and hilarious dialogue. It skillfully blends comedy into the narrative without overdoing it, making the funny moments surprisingly emotional as well. Leximan is definitely more laugh-out-loud than Undertale, and the absurdity of each joke, especially with the magic involved, never fails to amuse.
Speaking of magic, Leximan isn't an RPG as some people might believe. It’s more of a puzzle game with a unique combat system centered around Leximancy. You use words and phrases to affect the outcome of battles, crafting spells from letters, unfinished words, or phrases. This system can lead to both strategic victories and delightfully weird moments, like summoning a grenade with a frag out
quip. The humor is pure meme-worthy gold and packed with absurdity and Gen Z wit.
Outside of combat, Leximancy lets you interact with the world in creative ways. You can type words to solve puzzles and navigate challenges, such as using fire
to illuminate dark areas or ward
to create a temporary shield. While I would have loved to see even more imaginative uses like in Scribblenauts, the game still keeps exploration engaging with a variety of mini-games and puzzles.
Without giving too much away, be ready for some wild surprises and inventive twists. Leximan is a crazy, fun ride that cleverly balances its wacky humor with a genuinely heartfelt story.

Incredibly Creative Gameplay
Leximan’s gameplay is all about magic, especially the unique art of Leximancy. This magical system creates some truly fascinating scenarios, both in and out of combat. You’ll need to use your clever brain to solve word puzzles and tackle a variety of minigames. You can succeed in quirky ways or simply enjoy the comedy of your failures. With hundreds of ways to approach the game, the best strategy is your own.
For example, casting fire magic on a wooden door might reveal a hidden passage, or spelling “dude” in battle could summon a chill, laid-back character who cools down your enemies. The hilarity and unpredictability of these spells make the game incredibly fun, and you'll find yourself experimenting with different combinations just to see what happens. I once thought casting fruitbombs
would blow up a golem, but instead, it made him eat the fruit and thank me before leaving the battle. You never quite know what to expect, and that keeps the gameplay fresh from beginning to end.
Engaging and Hilarious Narrative
If I had to sum up the story in one word, it would be heart.
It’s like Ryan Reynolds in game form—full of humor and clever one-liners, but with a really touching and wholesome core. You’ll find yourself cheering for the protagonist and his friends as they face their ups and downs.
The story is well-crafted, flowing smoothly from one act to the next, with solid character development along the way. In a world often filled with darkness and gloom, this game brings hope to the forefront, making its story feel truly special. I don’t want to spoil too much, but just know that this game creates a world that’s both richly developed and hilariously entertaining. It truly deserves a sequel.
The Soundtrack is Magical
I absolutely need this soundtrack on Spotify! The game is bursting with incredible tracks—seriously, there are so many. Every room and location has its own unique soundtrack, mixing 8-bit retro vibes with symphonies and remixes. I found myself stopping just to enjoy each track.
Not one misses the mark, and it’s hilarious to see how many tracks play when you pause the game. There are tons, and they’re all amazing. Jake Whittaker must be a wizard himself, conjuring up magical symphonies!

No Real Difficulty
The main drawback of this game is that it’s a bit too easy, often holding your hand through battles and letting you retry without much challenge. I would have loved a tougher experience that pushed me to my limits as a wizard, making the journey and the underdog story feel more earned and satisfying.
