Netflix has just released the stop-motion animation series Pokemon Concierge. Read more to learn about the show, its reception, and whether or not it will receive a season 2.
Pokemon Concierge is Out Now
Pokemon Like We’ve Never Seen Before
Pokemon Concierge was made by Dwarf Studios, an animation studio known for another stop-motion series, Rilakkuma and Kaoru. It was rated 8.2/10 by IMDB and received a rare Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%. Expectations are high for the new Pokemon Show, and fans can now start watching!
The stop-motion animated show is finally out for streaming on Netflix. The series premiered with four episodes and a run-time of 16-20 minutes including credits. The slice-of-life story follows Haru, an overworked young woman who’s had a rough couple of weeks. Haru is voiced by Karen Fukuhara, who is best known for her roles as Kimiko in The Boys, and Katana in Suicide Squad.
She decides to start fresh and takes a new job as a Pokemon Concierge for the exclusive Pokemon Resort. Her job is to take care of the Pokemon and human guests alongside her colleagues and her new friend Psyduck. Aside from learning how to keep her guests happy, she embarks on a journey filled with friendship, self-discovery, and relaxing moments.
Pokemon for Working Adults
Pokemon Concierge Reception
As of its release, Pokemon Concierge is currently 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score of 83% and a 7.8/10 on IMDB. Reviews all over social media from Pokemon fans and critics have been mostly positive calling it a "refreshing story" and "cozy" show for working adults. The series has also been praised by fans as being "adorable" and a "fresh take" on the Pokemon world.
As mentioned before, the show is animated and produced by Dwarf Studios who partnered with Netflix in the past with their series Rilakumma and Kaoru. Similar to their previous work, the animation and art style was praised by fans and critics for its "bright and beautiful" visuals, and "unique" animation. The voice-acting also received positive praise for the performances of Haru from both Karen Fukuhara for the English dub and Rena Nōnen for the original Japanese for portraying the main character, Haru.
Season 2 Could be Happening
With only four episodes as of release, fans have already been clamoring online for a season 2 of the show. Although there is currently no news regarding its renewal, the animation studios’ previous work, Rilakumma and Kaoru, received a second season three years after its first season on Netflix. Season 2 may be coming soon, given its success and reception, but since stop-motion animation is a laborious task that takes time, fans should prepare to wait for two to three years.
