Best DPS Character Tier List

This is a tier list of the best DPS characters in Tales of Arise. They are ranked based on the criteria on the amount of damage they can bring to the party, the overall power of their abilities against certain enemies, and their ease-of-use.

This tier list has been updated for the full release of Tales of Arise.

S Tier (Top Tier Characters)

Alphen

Character	DPS Tier Summary
Alphen		Ability to sacrifice his own HP for more damage. Attacks able to reach farther enemies thanks to his perk, and are fast, fluid, and easy to execute.
Available as the starting character and protagonist.

Because of his fast and hard-hitting attacks combined with his amazing damage-oriented perk, Alphen takes the top spot of the DPS tier list. He is also the easiest character to use because of how simplistic yet powerful his Artes are.

Alphen can use his special Artes Flaming Edge to sacrifice a portion of his HP to gain a wider range and deal even more damage. However, this also means constant healing from the party.

Law

Character	DPS Tier Summary
Law		Can swiftly defeat enemies with his close-quarter attacks, especially in his Awakened state. Skills greatly increase the effects of Awakening and Over Limit especially when all the combos are unlocked.
Playable during the Main Story in Cyslodia.

Law is a dedicated DPS with an amazing skillset. His Awakening perk can increase the power of his attacks even more, so long as he is attacking without getting hit. In addition, Skills relating to Awakening can trigger Over Limit easier, letting him do the most powerful Mystic Artes often.

However, his relatively low defense, elemental defense, and resistance means that using Law in his full potential can be tricky, as he often needs to evade against enemy attacks for his Awakened status to stay active. When he does, he is a beast to be feared.

A Tier (High Tier Characters)

Shionne

Character	DPS Tier Summary
Shionne		Damage becomes higher mid to late game. She can wield Martial Artes, spells, powerful Fire Artes, and spammable Aerial Attacks, and a variety of skills that help her overall damage.
Playable during the Main Story in Calaglia.

Shionne's main role in early to mid game is healer, where her power is not yet truly realized. As the game progresses however, Shionne will be able to learn powerful Artes which makes up the downtime she does when she heals.

In particular, Shionne can learn and spam the aerial attack Tres Ventos, which homes and deals incredible damage to enemies.

Rinwell

Character	DPS Tier Summary
Rinwell		Able to cast powerful Astral Artes from afar, but she is often vulnerable due to her needing to cast long spells.
Playable during the Main Story in Cyslodia.

Rinwell casts long spells to deliver powerful Astral Artes from afar. These Astral Artes can be charged with her perk Magic Charging to increase its tier, deal even more damage, and even combine into powerful Hidden Artes such as Maelstrom. She also has the highest base Elemental Damage among all characters.

As she is often staying in one place to cast, this can make her vulnerable to interrupts from charging enemies. Whenever she has to stop casting and evade, her damage may fall off.

B Tier (Mid Tier Characters)

Kisara

Character	DPS Tier Summary
Kisara		Blocking, when executed perfectly, increases the power of her Artes. This makes her feel more rewarding even if she is oriented in tanking.
Playable during the Main Story in Elde Menancia

Kisara's playstyle heavily involves playing around her shield. While she cannot evade normally, but Kisara can use her shield to deal heavy damage, guard against hits, and deal damage in a wide angle with her hammer, all while protecting her teammates with her shield.

She can also buff her own Artes with her Guard Ignition perk by successfully guarding at the precise moment. However, this can be tough to execute consistently. Learning skills throughout the game will greatly help Kisara become a solid DPS tank.

Dohalim

Character	DPS Tier Summary
Dohalim		Dohalim can deal flurries of critical hits with a wide attack range to enemies with his perk. He can also use spell Artes to hit enemies from afar.
Playable during the Main Story in Elde Menancia

Dohalim is a jack of all trades character who can perform melee Artes, Astral Artes, ande even healing Artes, making him flexible for close and long-ranged combat. His perk Rod Extension allows him to deliver more frequent critical hits with his rod after executing a perfect dodge.

He is a decent all-rounder who can provide balanced offense and support to your party. He can also learn powerful Earth and Dark Astral Artes, such as Execution. Dohalim is balanced in all roles, but he doesn't particularly excel in any of them. He is best used as a versatile support character who can switch to dealing damge when needed.

This is a tier list of the best support characters in Tales of Arise. They are ranked based on the criteria of their support capabilities in terms of their party utility, as well as offensive support against enemies.

This tier list has been updated for the full release of Tales of Arise.

S Tier (Top Tier Characters)

Shionne

Character	Support Tier Summary
Shionne		Powerful single-target and AOE heals, and has the ability to resurrect in the middle of battle. She can also down aerial Zeugles with her Boost Attack.
Playable during the Main Story in Calaglia.

Her incredible healing abilities including Resurrection paired with her decent to high damage output makes her the absolute best support character in Tales of Arise.

In addition, Shionne can also learn the best healing artes in the game: Healing Circle, which is an AoE heal to everyone standing within range, and Revitalize, a party-wide support arte that heals everyone to full.

Dohalim

Character	Support Tier Summary
Dohalim		Has the ability to speed up AG regeneration, buff Defense and Elemental Defense, heal allies, and resurrect. Can also pull-in enemies with his skill. Boost Attack immobilizes fleet-footed Zeugles.
Playable during the Main Story in Elde Menancia

Dohalim can heal an ally, regenerate his party member's AG regeneration rate with Lionheart, buff party member's defensive stats with Barrier, and resurrect allies. If you are facing a high level enemy and need extra healing in the party, Dohalim can be a great backup support with balanced damage.

Dohalim is comparable with Shionne as a support role, however Dohalim's heals are exclusively single target whereas Shionne's are AoE. If you need cheaper AoE heals you can go for Shionne, but if you want powerful single target heals along with some added buffs for a higher CP cost go for Dohalim.

A Tier (High Tier Characters)

Rinwell

Character	Support Tier Summary
Rinwell		Can provide offensive buffs to her party members. Can also silence and steal a casting foe's Artes with her Boost Attack.
Playable during the Main Story in Cyslodia.

Rinwell can up her allies' attack, elemental attack, and penetration with Concentrate and Sharpness, making her useful in buffing her teammates' damage.

In addition, she can also silence Zeugles who cast Astral Artes and steal it by using her Boost Attack. Rinwell's Boost Attack can prevent some high damaging spells from being cast throughout the game, so it is a good idea to remember Rinwell's utility whenever there are Arte-casting enemies.

Kisara

Character	Support Tier Summary
Kisara		Can block incoming damage with her shield, keep aggro to herself, and boost defensive stats with her Boost Attack. Kisara's Boost Attack also denies charging Zeugles.
Playable during the Main Story in Elde Menancia

Kisara is a tank that can block most enemy attacks as she draws enemy aggro. In addition, she can also provide a bit of healing with Guardian Field.

She can also use Boost Attack against charging Zeugles, which interrupts and breaks their charge while also giving party-wide defensive bonuses after it has been cast.

Since enemies tend to attack the player-controlled character, switch to Kisara to draw enemy aggro, and it will help give uninterrupted casting time for characters like Rinwell.

B Tier (Mid Tier Characters)

Law

Character	Support Tier Summary
Law		Law can self-heal and self-buff with his self-support Artes. Can break down the shields of Armored Zeugles with his Boost Attack.
Playable during the Main Story in Cyslodia.

Law has the ability to support himself with self-heal Artes. He can also provide a self-buff to his attack and elemental attack. However, he cannot provide these to his other party members, as he and Alphen are mainly meant for DPS.

Law's actual utility comes from his Boost Attack, which breaks through the defenses of Armored Zeugles, downing them and making them vulnerable to follow up attacks.

Alphen

Character	Support Tier Summary
Alphen		No actual party utility other than his Boost Attack which can down enemies. His HP-sacrificing perk means that the party's CP in relation to its usage will be scarce.
Available as the starting character and protagonist.

Alphen's Artes provide no party utility other than raw damage. In addition, his Flaming Edge perk necessitates healing from the party, making your CP dwindle faster.

However, his Boost Attack can be used to down most enemies and interrupt attacks. This is his only supportive ability, albeit an offensive one.
