Raising Your Score at Choco Island 1

Position Points and Gimmicks are the Most Important

In order to obtain the most points possible, you should aim for a high position and use items to knock your opponents out of the lead.

Tips for Raising Your Score

Rocket Start

Starting with a Rocket Start will give you the advantage to take an early lead in the race. You can also get the highest bonus score possible if done correctly.

Drifting

Performing Mini-Turbo boosts will give your kart a short acceleration. This will help you get ahead of your opponents and even extend your combos. You will also gain points from performing one.

1st Shortcut

You will see this shortcut at the start of the race. Access this shortcut only if you have a Mushroom item to help you speed up. Otherwise, it will only slow you down.

Road Humps

Going over ramps or road humps will automatically let you perform a jump boost. There are many road humps all over the course. Be sure to take that opportunity to make a long combo count. The longer the combo, the higher the score!

2nd Shortcut

We do not recommend using this shortcut as you will miss the humps on the road. Access this shortcut only if you are not in the lead and if you have a Mushroom with you.

Use Items

Make sure to hit your opponents when throwing your items forward or backward. Hitting an opponent will grant you points and slow them down at the same time. This will give you the advantage to get ahead of them and take the lead. Do not forget to save at least one item to defend yourself from getting hit.
