This is a guide to observing leaders in Ghost of Tsushima. Learn more about the effects of observing leaders and how to do it below!
List of Contents
Mongol Leaders are stronger and more skilled than the majority of Mongols that you will encounter in the game. Observing or killing leaders will grant you stance progress that will let you unlock different stances that can help you gain advantage in battle.
You will no longer receive stance progress and the option of observing leaders will be disabled after you unlock all 4 stances.
It is recommended to observe leaders first before killing them as this will yield 2 levels of stance progress, making it easier to unlock other stances.
You can't observe corpses of leaders, of course, so observe them first (grants 1 stance progress) then kill them (grants another stance progress) in any way you want.
Some Mongol Territories have more than one leader and in some cases, there are none.
You can find most leaders training somewhere in the area so use your Focused Hearing to locate them. They're usually moving back and forth when training so you can find them easily, although some leaders just walk casually around the area.
List of Mongol Territories and Locations
After finding a leader, approach him without being seen by anyone until the Observe Leader option appears. Simply hold R2 until you obtain a stance progress then you can proceed to wreak havoc across the Mongol Territory.
