In the game, there are instances when players can't always dodge enemy strikes or always gets in the way of exploding land mines. In these cases, the game recognizes a player's flaws. Flaws give you an extra point at the expense of a character quirk that can affect their skills.
The choice of accepting these flaws, or rejecting them (at the expense of the perk point) is completely up to the player.
After being exposed a certain number of times to a stimulus, your character will have the option to take on the Flaw related to that stimulus.
For instance, if your character walks into mines a certain number of times, they will gain the option of taking on the Permanent Concussion Flaw.
It's possible to gain Flaws on purpose in this way, such as by walking into the Abandoned Outpost (near Edgewater), and triggering each of the mines there on purpose. This consecutive series of concussions will trigger the Permanent Concussion Flaw.
The game gives you the option of taking on Flaws for the sake of gaining a bonus Perk point, otherwise, you will have to grind for it.
Well, should you, or shouldn't you? Some Flaws are actually manageable and there are ways to remove them, provided their conditions are met. For instance - you have S.A.M in your party, but you also have the Flaw triggered by Automechanicals. S.A.M will trigger that Flaw, but it could be remedied easily by having S.A.M out of your party. However, you do have to live without taking S.A.M with you, especially in needed areas.
Find out more about which Flaws are easy to navigate by referring to the list below.
