How to Block

Hold the ZL button

You can Block all normal attacks by creating a Ninja-Gum Bubble. Press and hold the ZL button (default) to blow a Ninja-Gum Bubble. Bigger Ninja-Gum Bubble means more attacks can be Blocked.

Tapping the ZL Instantly May Result in a Parry

when you use your Block at the same time the enemy lands their attack on you, a parry will occur. To learn more abour parrys, see our guide about it!

Blocking Tips and Tricks

Starting a Counter Combo

Blocking an attack can be a start of your combo. Whenever you Block an attack, use your Gum Shoot and start attacking your opponent.

Block Gum Shoot Normal Normal Normal

Note: The combo will still rely on the weapon you are using. After attacking with your Gum Shoot, use the suitable combo for your weapon.

Immediately use Gum Boost to Escape

If you want to avoid a fight with players because of your low health, you can Block their attack using your Ninja-Gum Bubble. Immediately activate a Gum Boost after successfully Blocking their attack to escape.

Block (hold ZL) Jump (B) Gum Boost (B)

Avoid Blocking Too Much

Blocking too frequently will make you susceptible to Break Attacks. If you get hit by a Break Attack, you will get encased in gum. This will likely result in a free IPPON for the enemy team. For more info about Break Attacks, see the guide below.
