Part 7 - Face Shrine Speedrun (100%)

Getting to Face Shrine

Piece of Heart #14

Estimated Time: 1:17:20 - 1:18:46

Upon exiting Catfish's Maw, play Manbo's Mambo and warp to Manbo's Pond.

Travel west to Mysterious Forest then south from the log. Lift the first boulder that you will see on your right to reveal a staircase.

Descend and light up the torch with magic powder to wake up Li'l Devil again.

This time, choose the arrow capacity upgrade. Go back up.

Head north and enter the log. Hookshot the chest and open it for 50 Rupees. Now, hookshot the rock on the other side, push the other rock, and get the Piece of Heart #14. Hookshot the rock at the bottom right then go back outside.

Obtaining the Broom

Estimated Time: 1:18:46 - 1:19:16

Jump over the holes to the left, continue going left, then up at the end. Jump over the holes again and enter the house. Talk to Mr. Write to give the letter and obtain the Broom. Go back outside.

Piece of Heart #15

Estimated Time: 1:19:16 - 1:19:43

Go all the way south then enter the log. Push the rocks to make a path to get to the Piece of Heart #15. Go back outside.

Secret Seashell #21

Estimated Time: 1:19:43 - 1:20:03

Head north and jump over the hole. From here, go right then from the opened chest, go all the way down until you see a boulder. Throw the boulder away and open the chest for the Secret Seashell #21.

Secret Seashell #22

Estimated Time: 1:20:03 - 1:20:38

Play Manbo's Mambo and warp to Animal Village. Proceed to the top right area of the village and enter the the house on the left. Talk to Christine and she will give you the Secret Seashell #22. Go back outside.

Secret Seashell #23

Estimated Time: 1:20:38 - 1:21:04

Travel to the entrance of Yarna Desert and stand on where the walrus was sleeping. Play the Ballad of the Wind Fish to get the Secret Seashell #23.

Piece of Heart #16

Estimated Time: 1:21:04 - 1:21:22

Head north and walk along the edge of the village. Blow up the breakable wall on the upper right corner of the village and before you enter, walk to the far west and get the Piece of Heart #16.

Piece of Heart #17

Estimated Time: 1:21:22 - 1:22:01

Now enter through the broken wall. Push the rock, jump over the gap, then go up to the next room. Use a bomb arrow to destroy the boulder on the other side then use hookshot to go over the gap. Go up the stairs and get the Piece of Heart #17. Play Manbo's Mambo and warp back to Animal Village.

Piece of Heart #18

Estimated Time: 1:22:01 - 1:22:28

Exit through the top left area and go up until you see a staircase. Descend and get the Piece of Heart #18 underwater. Go back up.

Secret Seashell #24

Estimated Time: 1:22:28 - 1:23:05

Proceed north then east until you see a boulder. In this area filled with boulders and stone blocks, make your way to the upper right part, lift the boulder on the corner for the Secret Seashell #24.

Secret Seashell #25

Estimated Time: 1:23:05 - 1:23:43

Enter through the narrow path on the bottom right corner of your screen to enter the Ancient Ruins. Continue going south until you reach the bottom right area of the ruins.

Head west, get close to the armos blocking the path on the northwest, then destroy it with your bow.

Go left, up, right, and on the group of armos in this area, make the lower right armos move to uncover a staircase.

Descend and open the chest for the Secret Seashell #25. Go back up.

Obtaining the Face Key

Estimated Time: 1:23:43 - 1:24:36

Continue moving to the upper left area of the ruins while destroying any armos blocking your path.

Move south then head to the stairs on the left side of your screen while destroying some more armos on your way. Ascend the stairs and enter the Southern Face Shrine. Proceed to the next room to face the Armos Knight.

To finish this quickly, hit it with two properly positioned spin attacks to destroy its shield, then shoot it with arrows twice. Pick up the Face Key that it will drop.

Secret Seashell #26

Estimated Time: 1:24:36 - 1:25:14

Use the ocarina to play Manbo's Mambo and warp to Seashell Mansion.

Jump off the ledge, go down, go all the way left, up, left, go all the way down, then left until you see a lake. Swim to the isolated land with a bush. Cut the bush for the Secret Seashell #26.

Secret Seashell #27

Estimated Time: 1:25:14 - 1:25:42

Go back all the way right, then up until you reach a phone booth. From here, go up and through the narrow path. Hookshot the stump on the other side to get over the holes. Descend on the stairs and open the chest to get the Secret Seashell #27. Go back up.

Piece of Heart #19

Estimated Time: 1:25:42 - 1:25:53

Jump into the water, swim to the right, and get the Piece of Heart #19 underwater.

Secret Seashell #28

Estimated Time: 1:25:53 - 1:26:17

Swim back to the left then all the way up until you see a small waterfall. Dive below the foot of the waterfall to get the Secret Seashell #28.

Entering Face Shrine

Estimated Time: 1:26:17 - 1:27:27

Now, swim all the way to the left and go up the first set of stairs that you will see. Go all the way down to get back again in the water. Swim east until you find a platform with an armos on both side. Activate the one on the left, stun it with the hookshot, lift it, and go down the stairs.

Go west until you see a large gap. Hookshot the rock on the other side to get to it then go up the stairs.

Use the Face Key on the lock at the right side to reveal the Face Shrine. Use the stairs on the left and enter the dungeon.

Obtaining the Powerful Bracelet

Estimated Time: 1:27:27 - 1:28:22

Go left one screen, use the upper left path in this room, go up, then turn left. Stand on top of the upper right red block and hookshot the switch from there. Go up one screen and blow up the wall to the right. Proceed through the hole.

Defeat all four zols hidden in this room to make a staircase appear. Go down the stairs. Get to the other end of this area by using dash jumps then climb up the ladder.

Defeat the mini-moldorm and the two wizzrobes in this room and proceed north. Open the chest up the stairs on the left to obtain the Powerful Bracelet.

Secret Seashell #29

Estimated Time: 1:28:22 - 1:29:23

Use the revolving door below to proceed. Hit the switch and stand on the upper left red block this time and hookshot the switch from there. Go up and immediately hookshot the pot in front of you. Lift that pot and throw it to the pot on its left to reveal a button. Step on the button to open the door to the left. Continue to the left room.

Get the floating arrows then go up the next room. Throw a pot at the door on the top of your screen and enter through it. Go right, ignore the chest, climb the stairs and hit the switch. Go back to the previous room and throw a statue at the door. Go up to the next room.

Throw the black piece on the tile southeast of the left green tile and the white piece on the tile southwest of the right green tile. Go up the stairs and open the chest for 100 rupees.

Go up to the next set of stairs and open the chest for the Secret Seashell #29. Go back down.

Obtaining the Nightmare Key

Estimated Time: 1:29:23 - 1:34:12

Jump off the ledge then go back to the previous room. Go right, still ignore the chest, climb the stairs, get the floating bombs on the right, then continue walking through this path until you reach a room full of red blocks.

Move to the center to make two wizzrobes appear. Defeat them both to make a small key fall down. Pick up the small key and play Manbo's Mambo to warp back to the entrance. Exit the dungeon and re-enter to reset the switches.

Move two rooms to the right and destroy all the floating tiles here until the door on the north opens. Go to the next room. Unlock the room north and enter it. In this room, blow up the cracked wall then proceed to face Smasher.

After he throws the large metal ball at you, pick it up and throw it back. He will run away if you pick up the ball so repeat this attack in quick succession to defeat it fast. Get the fairy if you are low on health then go back two rooms.

Lift a statue and throw it at the door on the right to continue. In this room, defeat the four wizzrobes to open the door on the top right. Enter through this door and follow the linear path to get to the chest at the end containing another small key. Reload your autosave.

Use the blue portal, go up to the next room, and lift the statue on the left to reveal a staircase. Use it to go down to the 2D room. Use dash jumps to quickly arrive to the other end and ascend.

Unlock the locked block at the top right side of the room and destroy all the tiles that will float one by one. These tiles will leave gaps on the floor so be sure to equip Roc's Feather. After destroying all of them, pick up the small key that will fall down and proceed to the top right.

Lift the statue in this room and throw it at the door to open it. In this room, throw the upper right pot to the upper left pot to uncover two green spaces. Pick up the black piece, stand on the right of the lower left pot, and throw the piece at the green space on the right. Now, pick up the white piece, stand on the left of the lower right pot, and throw it at the other green space. Make your way to the left room.

Go down the stairs on the left. Go to the other side of this room by dashing to avoid the thwomps. Climb up the ladder.

Equip the ocarina and play Ballad of the Wind Fish to instantly defeat all the pols voices here. Go through the door south of this room and you will face two dodongo snakes.

Use the same strategy as before and they will be defeated after three bombs each. Go to the room on the left and use hookshot on the block at the other side. Unlock the locked block and continue through this path. Lift the pot on the right side and throw it at the chest on the right. This will cause the Nightmare Key to fly towards you. Reload your autosave.

Defeating Facade

Estimated Time: 1:34:12 - 1:36:44

Use the blue portal again, head north, descend the stairs, dash jump your way to the other side to ascend, and enter the room at the bottom right.

Dash to the left and around the vacuum mouth to make zols appear and get them pulled into the vacuum mouth at the same time. Proceed to the next room.

Jump over the gap and use hookshot to stun the wizzrobe that will appear. Push the block on the right and continue to the next room. Enter the Nightmare Lair to face Facade.

The key to finishing this battle quickly is by using bomb arrows on the tiles that he will throw at you. Time and position it correctly so that it hits a tile and his face in one explosion. He should go down after six explosions.

After the battle, pick up the Heart Container that will appear. Continue to the next room and get the Coral Triangle to complete the dungeon.
