For this speedrun, you must do the Egg Pattern Manipulation technique before starting the game. It is recommended that you leave at least one empty slot before doing the technique for a faster process.
After waking up, speak with Tarin to receive your shield then head outside.
Head West then South past the kids playing. Continue moving Southeast until you reach Toronbo Shores. You may want to use the ledges for a shorter travel to the shores.
Push the sea urchins blocking your way using your shield and continue heading southeast to the bay until you see your sword.
After picking up your sword, go back to the village and head north to enter the Mysterious Forest.
Head north, east, then enter the narrow path on the right side and continue heading east unti you see a log that can be entered.
Once inside, head north then left past the keeses. Push the stones out of your way then head outside the cave. Pick up the Toadstool on the left.
Backtrack your way to the cave but before you exit to the other side, destroy the crystals with your sword, push away the stone that is in front of the chest, and loot the chest for 50 Rupees.
Outside, head north until you see another log blocked with rocks. Head east from this log until you reach Koholint Prairie.
From here, travel southeast until you see a wooden house with a large skull on it. Enter the house and talk to the witch to hand over the Toadstool and receive the Magic Powder. Set it to X or Y.
Go back to the Mysterious Forest and to the location of the log where you came out from. Walk through the narrow path again but this time, head north until you see a strange raccoon.
Sprinkle some Magic Powder to it to reveal that it was actually Tarin. Continue heading north, cut the grass surrounding the chest, and open it to get the Tail Key.
Go back to the village and head south past the kids again. Walk to the farthest east then south to the Tail Cave entrance. Use the Tail Key to unlock the entrance and head inside.
Upon entering, head north, east, then north again using the revolving door. Head west until you see a chest. Open it for a small key.
Continue heading west until you see some statues. From here, walk north then use the small key on the locked door.
Make your way around the maze while avoiding the sparks. At the end, push the block in front of the owl statue upwards to open the door to the left.
Defeat the two spiked beetles in this room by bumping into them with your shield and slashing them while they are flipped over. Doing so will make a staircase appear that will lead you to a room with goombas. Head to the leftmost part then climb the ladder.
Make your way north and open the chest to receive the Roc's Feather.
Load the auto-save slot afterwards to warp back to the entrance.
Back at the entrance, set the Roc's Feather to X or Y first then go left and defeat the two hardhat beetles by pushing them to the edge with your sword or shield. After that, pick up the small key that will appear.
Go back to the entrance, head north, then use the Roc's Feather to jump to the other side of the gap to step on the switch. Open the chest that will appear to get another small key.
Head east then north again through the revolving door. This time, head to the top right then jump over the gap on the left. Use the small key to open the locked block. Follow this path to obtain the Nightmare Key from the chest.
Head back south and unlock the door on the southeastern part of the room.
Head east, jump over the gap on the right then enter the room with Rolling Bones.
After defeating him, a fairy and a blue portal will appear. You can ignore them both but if you are low on health, you can get the fairy. Head north two rooms where you will encounter Moldorm.
Moldorm can be defeated with two properly positioned spin attacks.
Defeat him to get a Heart Container. Continue north to get the Full Moon Cello, completing the dungeon.
