Core CardExodia the Forbidden One

Strengths

  • Can easily FTK your opponent. If nothing stops the constant drawing of cards, getting all five pieces of Exodia in the hand is guaranteed.
  • Fun and engaging gameplay. Drawing out an entire deck for an instant win condition has its own special way to satisfy Duelists.
  • Unique way to play the game. Exodia is a deck not usually seen that often; it can very often catch opponents off guard.

Deck Concept

Exodia Decks use the unique win condition of Exodia the Forbidden One to win the Duel on the first turn. All other cards in the Deck allow you to quickly draw and summon all your Exodia cards and eventually add them to your hand.

  • A risky way to get all the pieces of Exodia in the hand is by summoning a piece to serve as tribute to bring out The Legendary Exodia Incarnate. While it can be destoyed by battle, its ATK increases for each piece in the Graveyard, is immune to card effects, and can send a piece from the GY to the hand.
  • Cards of Consonance provides one of the best draw power among Spell Cards simply by discarding a low ATK Tuner; Guardragon Justicia can serve both as a wall on the field and a pair with Cards of Consonance.
  • Refreshing cards from the may result in possible better cards to work with. Reload and Magical Mallet are some of the best options to mulligan, with Magical Mallet allowing to to choose which card to shuffle back into the deck.
  • Drawing more using Into The Void can play into The Legendary Exodia Incarnate should an FTK not be possible from the attempt.

How to Play Exodia

Main Combo

Exodia the Forbidden One.jpg

1. Activate Cup of Ace when you need to draw additional cards.
2. Use Enchanting Fitting Room and Unexpected Dai to Special Summon your Exodia cards from your Deck.
3. When you draw Treasure Panda, Normal Summon it to Special Summon an Exodia card.
4. When you draw Fortune Fairy Hikari, Special Summon it with its own effect and send it to the Graveyard to Special Summon an Exodia card.
5. Use Wonder Wand and White Elephant's Gift to send your Exodia cards from the field to your Graveyard and draw cards.
6. Once all of your Exodia cards are in your hand or Graveyard, activate your Dark Factory of Mass Productions to add them all to your hand.
7. Because of the effect of Exodia the Forbidden One, you automatically win the Duel.

Counters for Exodia

Weaknesses

  • Very unreliable and inconsistent. A bad starting hand or a single negate in the middle of a combo can completely stop the combo.
  • Too dependent on Exodia cards, as it is the win condition of the deck. There is no alternative win condition available due to the cards in the deck.
  • The strategy is very likely to fail. Luck does play a part to get the Exodia win condition to properly happen.

Block their Exodia Cards

The win condition of this Deck is dependent on the player's Exodia cards and without them, it is almost impossible for it to win against a more viable Deck. If you make it past the first turn of the Duel, make sure to keep their Exodia cards as far away from their hand as possible.

Disrupt their Combo

Though this counter may be difficult to perform because this Deck usually takes down its opponent during the first turn of the Duel, it is not always successful with this strategy. If your opponent was unable to finish their combo during the first turn, you can easily ruin their combo by negating their Spell effects.
