Skill Rating Classification

S The best skills in the game. It gives you the biggest or the most consistent advantage in any Duel.
A Great skills that can be used in most decks. Flexible and reliable even against the S-tier Skills and Decks.
B Good skills that need the right decks to work well with. Has a niche use but still a viable option to consider

Note: The skills not listed here are all in a neutral space in terms of balance. They are not good but they are not bad either.

Character Skill Tier List

S Tier

Demon's Resonance

Can be used by revealing 1 "Resonator" monster in your hand. Return 1 card from your hand to your Deck and add 1 Level 4 or lower Fiend-Type monster to your hand from your Deck. You cannot activate the effect of the added card or cards with the same name during this turn. This Skill will only activate with a Deck that has 10 or more "Resonator" cards or Fiend-Type monsters and an Extra Deck that only has Dragon-Type Synchro Monsters. This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.

The Skill makes Jack's access to his Extra Deck far too consistent, and a Resonator Deck has a surprisng amount of control.

The Dragon Knight's Path

Effect
Send 1 card from your hand to your Deck. Place 1 "Galloping Gaia" on your field from the Deck. This is only usable once per Duel, and on a Deck with at least 8 cards that are "Gaia The Fierce Knight", or Level 5 Dragon monsters. You can only Special Summon the following until the end of your next turn:
● Fusion Monsters with "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monsters as material
● "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monsters
● "Black Luster Soldier" monsters
● Level 5 Dragon monsters

Much like the previous, The Dragon Knight's Path made Decks focusing on Gaia the Fierce Knight far too consistent. Being able to bring out the boss Fusion Monster with the greatest of ease was easy with this skill.

Shooting Star Road

Effect
Begin the Duel with 1 "Junk Converter" in your Graveyard.
This effect can be used once if "Stardust Dragon" is on your field: Play 1 "Formula Synchron" outside of your Deck. Only WIND Dragon-Type Synchro Monsters can be Special Summoned from your Extra Deck until the end of your opponent's turn.
This can only be used on a Deck that has 8 or more "Junk" monsters or "Synchron" Tuner monster cards, and an Extra Deck with 4 or more cards that are "Junk", "Synchron", or "Stardust" monsters.

This made bringing out the titular Shooting Star Dragon far too easy, almost becoming a one-card combo to unleash the boss monster. That, and given its association with the Junk archetype, it has a wide variety of options.

Territory of the Sharks

Effect
The Level of all WATER monsters you control becomes 4 until the end of the turn. This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than WATER monsters.

Rank 4 XYZ monsters happen to have some of the best supported archetypes in the game, even despite this skill limiting the Extra Deck to running only WATER monsters. Shark's effect can even be used twice per duel, making it a constant threat when it's his turn.

Ultimate Dragons

Effect
At the beginning of the Duel, add "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", and "Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon" to your Extra Deck. Can be used on turn 3 and onward by revealing 2 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in your hand to your opponent. Add "Polymerization" to your hand from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Blue-Eyes remains one of the strongest archetypes in the game, and this Skill makes it capable of standing against the fast-paced meta provided by the Extra Deck. It is almost a given fact that if you see a player running DSOD Seto Kaiba, he is most definitely running Ultimate Dragons.

Cyber Style

Effect
Play up to two "Proto-Cyber Dragons" in Attack Position from outside your Deck. If your Life Points are at 1000 or below, you can play up to three "Proto-Cyber Dragons" in Attack Position from outside of your Deck. "Proto-Cyber Dragons" played with this Skill cannot be Tributed, and while they are face-up on the field, you cannot Special Summon except for Fusion Summoning, nor attack except with Fusion Monsters.

One of the scariest things you can encounter in game is a field full of Cyber Dragons in an instant from a Zane Truesdale player. Sure, you cannot use the Proto-Cyber Dragons for anything other than Fusion Material, Cyber Dragon decks primarily focus on Fusion Monsters, and are one of the best archetypes to do so because of consistent support.

Hapries' Hunting Ground

Begin the Duel with the Field Spell Card "Harpies' Hunting Ground" activated.

For an effect that is so simple, it eventually became a very strong Skill to run because the game itself had changed. The Harpies benefit from this definitely as they got more support, but this Skill has also run rampant on Triamid Decks, which is an archetype that loves Field Spells. This lead to mind games as to what Deck a Mai Valentine player would run between the two archetypes.

Red-Eyes Fusion

Effect
Can be used if your Life Points are at 2400 or below. Return 1 "Red-Eyes" card from your hand or 1 "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" from your Graveyard to your Deck, and add "Red-Eyes Fusion" from your Deck to your hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Red-Eyes has gained support over the years, and is a Deck that has surprising abilities to conduct a Fusion Summon out of nowhere with control on the field thanks to its boss Fusion Monsters like [Red-Eyes Slash Dragon](/games/Duel-Links/archives/299642. While Red-Eyes can be used by anyone, none can use it better than Joey Wheeler.

Onomatoplay

Effect
Return 2 "Zubaba", "Gagaga", "Gogogo" or "Dododo" cards with different names from your hand to the Deck and add 2 "Zubaba", "Gagaga", "Gogogo" or "Dododo" monsters with different names to your hand from the Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Considering that it takes a minimum of two monsters to conduct an Xyz Monster, this for a Skill on Yuma and Astra--best known for their Onomatopeia and Utopia archetypes-- shot them up the tier list and became a force to be reckoned with in competititve.

A Tier

Wave-Motion Inferno
Kalin Kessler.png Kalin Kessler If you have no cards in your hand, this skill increases the ATK/DEF of all "Infernity" monsters you control by 400.
Reason:
Kalin's preferred archetypes needs him to go handless, and this gives "Infernity" monsters a needed ATK boost.
Miracle Draw
Jaden Yuki.pngJaden Yuki If you have an 'Elemental HERO' monster in your Graveyard, your normal draw on your 3rd Draw Phase will become "Pot of Greed."
Reason
You cannot go wrong with Pot of Greed. Drawing two cards is already a plus in card advantage.
Miracle Fusion Time!

Can be used if your Life Points decrease by 1000. instead of doing a normal draw, "Miracle Fusion" is added to your hand from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Given how Fusion-focused Jaden is with "Elemental HERO," getting Miracle Fusion instantly can be an instant game-changer.
Endless Trap Hell
Odion.pngOdion Can be used when you have 3 or more Trap Cards in the Graveyard. Randomly add 1 Trap Card from your Graveyard to your hand. Then, return all other Trap Cards in your Graveyard to your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Even in a fast-paced meta, Traps can be as equally annoying; Odion's Skill lets him refresh the Trap Cards that he needs the most.
Destiny Draw
Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi Can be used when your Life Points decrease by 2000. In the Draw Phase, instead of conducting your normal draw, draw a card of your choice. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Being able to choose any card in your Deck as your draw, even while in a pinch, is still overpowered.
Set! Delta Accel!
Antinomy Icon.pngAntinomy At the beginning of the Duel, add 1 "T.G. Halberd Cannon," "T.G. Blade Blaster," "T.G. Power Gladiator," "T.G. Wonder Magician," and "T.G. Recipro Dragonfly" to your Extra Deck.
In addition, the following effect can be used once the turn you have Synchro Summoned 2 or more "T.G." Synchro Monsters. Return 1 "T.G." card in your hand to your Deck and play 1 "T.G. Recipro Dragonfly" from your Extra Deck.
Reason
The "T.G." archetype has one of the most potent abilities to go into a Synchro Summon. The cards that the Skill provide is more than enough support.
The Tie that Binds
Until the end of your turn, the ATK of all face-up monsters on your field increases by the number of monsters on your field times 100. This Skill can only be used once per turn.

Considering that most of the characters that have this Skill can easily Special Summon and fill the field, this Skill can provide the last bit of boost to win the game.
Grit
If you had 4000 or more Life Points at the start of that turn, your Life Points will not fall below 1 for one time only. When this Skill is applied, you can only Special Summon 1 monster until the end of your next turn. This Skill will only activate once per Duel.

Sometimes, all you need is a single Special Summon to turn things around, and there are a plenty of Deck and Archetypes that enable that playstyle.

B Tier

Supreme King's Castle Revelation
Supreme King Jaden Icon.pngSupreme King Jaden Can be used by revealing 1 “Polymerization” Spell Card or “Fusion” Spell Card in your hand when you have a no Field Spell on your field. Play "Supreme King’s Castle" from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Provides an ATK boost for a monster, and Fusion Monsters restricted with "Dark Fusion" can now use "Polymerization" or other "Fusion" Spell Cards.
Malicious Hero
Supreme King Jaden Icon.pngSupreme King Jaden At the beginning of the Duel, add 2 "Evil HERO Malicious Edge" and 1 "Dark Fusion" to your Deck. In addition, add 1 "Evil HERO Malicious Fiend" to your Extra Deck.
Reason
The perfect support for a Deck that focuses on Fusion-based Fiends, or anyone that wants to dabble witht "Evil HERO" monsters in general.
Relinquished Puppet
Quattro Icon.png Quattro Send 1 Level 8 "Gimmick Puppet" monster in your hand or Deck to your Graveyard. Then, play 1 "Gimmick Puppet Des Troy" from outside your Deck. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than "Gimmick Puppet" monsters and DARK "Number" monsters.
This Skill can be used once per Duel.
Reason
Quite possibly the best Skill Quattro has, but only if you build a "Gimmick Puppet" Deck on him.
Handless Combo Infinity
Kalin.pngKalin Kessler Begin the Duel with 0 cards in your hand and "Infernity Doom Dragon" on your side of the field.
Reason
You already start the Duel with a massive Synchro Monster on the field, and no cards in your hand to kick off the Handless playstyle Kalin is known for.
Scorn of Ultimate Defeat
Seto Kaiba (DSOD).pngSeto Kaiba (DSOD) Can be used on turn 6 and onward. Add 1 "Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon" to the top of your Deck. In addition, add "Chaos Form" to your hand from outside of the Deck if your opponent controls monsters with 3500 or higher DEF. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
This is a Skill meant to break through high DEF or stall monsters, with probably one of the most powerful Ritual Monsters in the game.
Baggy Sleeves
Bandit Keith.pngBandit Keith If your Level 7 or higher monster is destroyed by battle, your normal draw in the next Draw Phase becomes 2 cards. This Skill will only activate once per Duel.
Reason
Most Decks in the current meta game involve Level 7 or higher monsters. Getting a +1 on your next Draw Phase is a great way to rebound.
Card of Sanctity
Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi Can be used at the end of your turn, if you Normal Summoned "Slifer the Sky Dragon" that turn. Both players draw until they have 6 cards in their hands.
Reason
When done right, you can go from being handless to +6 in card advantage. The only downside is that your opponent can also draw to 6 as well.

Skill Balancing Updates

Once in a while, Skills will be given a fine turning whenever they are seen as too strong within the PvP scene. Make sure to keep an eye out for updates that drop every now and then!

This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck that has 4 or more "HERO" Normal Monsters with different names in your Deck and it contains no monsters other than "HERO" monsters. (Extra Deck does not count.)
2nd Turn: "H - Heated Heart"
4th Turn: "E - Emergency Call"
6th Turn: "R - Righteous Justice"
8th Turn: "O - Oversoul"
10th Turn: "Hero Flash!!"
