Character Skill Tier List

S Tier

Destiny Draw

Character
Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi
Effect
Can be used when your Life Points decrease by 2000. In the Draw Phase, instead of conducting your normal draw, draw a card of your choice. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

This Skill remains one of the most flexible Skills in the game, and can be run by just about any Deck possible in the game. The ability to choose the card you draw in a clutch can save you the game. When you are up against Yami Yugi, there is always a good chance they are running Destiny Draw.

The Dragon Knight's Path

Characters
Yugi Muto.pngYugi Muto Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi Yugi Muto DSOD.pngYugi Muto (DSOD)
Effect
Can be used by returning 1 monster in your hand to your Deck. Place 1 "Galloping Gaia" face-up in your Field Zone from your Deck. After using this Skill, you can only Special Summon following monsters until the end of your next turn. This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that has 8 more more "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monsters or Level 5 Dragon-type monsters. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
● A Fusion Monster that use "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monsters as Fusion Material
● "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monsters
● "Black Luster Soldier" monster
● Level 5 Dragon-type monster.

The Dragon Knight's Path has somehow remained untouched, making Decks focusing on Gaia the Fierce Knight very consistent even against the newcoming Decks. Being able to bring out the boss Fusion Monster with the greatest of ease continues to be easy with this skill.

Shooting Star Road

Character
Yusei Fudo.pngYusei Fudo
Effect
Begin the Duel with 1 "Junk Converter" in your Graveyard.
This effect can be used once if "Stardust Dragon" is on your field: Play 1 "Formula Synchron" outside of your Deck. Only WIND Dragon-Type Synchro Monsters can be Special Summoned from your Extra Deck until the end of your opponent's turn.
This can only be used on a Deck that has 8 or more "Junk" monsters or "Synchron" Tuner monster cards, and an Extra Deck with 4 or more cards that are "Junk", "Synchron", or "Stardust" monsters.

This made bringing out the titular Shooting Star Dragon extremely easy, to the point of almost becoming a one-card combo to unleash the boss monster. That, and given its association with the Junk archetype, it has a wide variety of options when the situation calls for it.

Territory of the Sharks

Character
Reginald Kastle Icon.pngReginald "Shark" Kastle
Effect
The Level of all WATER monsters you control becomes 4 until the end of the turn. This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than WATER monsters.

Rank 4 XYZ monsters continue to be one of the most accessible Extra Deck monsters in the game, even despite this skill limiting the Extra Deck to running only WATER monsters. Shark's effect can even be used twice per duel, making it a constant threat when it's his turn to pull out monsters like Number 32: Shark Drake, Abyss Dweller and Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark.

Ultimate Dragons

Character
Seto Kaiba (DSOD).pngSeto Kaiba (DSOD)
Effect
At the beginning of the Duel, add "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", and "Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon" to your Extra Deck. Can be used on turn 3 and onward by revealing 2 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in your hand to your opponent. Add "Polymerization" to your hand from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Blue-Eyes remains one of the strongest archetypes in the game, and this Skill makes it capable of standing against the fast-paced meta provided by the Extra Deck. It is almost a given fact that if you see a player running DSOD Seto Kaiba, he is most definitely running Ultimate Dragons.

Red-Eyes Fusion

Character
Joey Wheeler (DSOD).pngJoey Wheeler (DSOD)
Effect
Can be used if your Life Points are at 2400 or below. Return 1 "Red-Eyes" card from your hand or 1 "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" from your Graveyard to your Deck, and add "Red-Eyes Fusion" from your Deck to your hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Red-Eyes has gained support over the years, and is a Deck that has surprising abilities to conduct a Fusion Summon out of nowhere with control on the field thanks to its boss Fusion Monsters like Red-Eyes Slash Dragon, and Archfiend Black Skull Dragon. While Red-Eyes can be used by anyone, none can use it better than Joey Wheeler.

Red-Eyes Roulette

Character
Joey Wheeler.pngJoey Wheeler (DSOD).png
Joey Wheeler
(DM) & (DSOD)
Effect
Choose one of the following monsters and add it to your Deck from outside of your Deck. Then, add 1 random "Red-Eyes" card to your hand from the Deck and return 1 "Red-Eyes" card from your hand to the Deck.
This Skill can be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck (excluding Extra Deck) that has 10 or more "Red-Eyes" cards including at least 5 "Red-Eyes" monsters. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
● "Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning"
● "Summoned Skull"
● "Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact"
● "Meteor Dragon"
● "Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight"
● "Gearfried the Iron Knight"

With the release of more support for Red-Eyes, specifically Archfiend Black Skull Dragon, Red-Eyes Decks are now given even more options than before by branching out to the Archfiend archetype. Expect players to surprise those expecting typical Red-Eyes builds using this Skill.

Clock of Destiny

Character
Aster Phoenix.pngAster Phoenix
Effect
Each of the following effects can be used once per Duel.
● Send 1 Level 4 or lower "Destiny HERO" monster in your hand to the Graveyard. Then, add 1 "Clock Tower Prison" from your Deck to your Hand.
● Select 1 "Clock Tower Prison" in your Field Zone and place 3 Clock Counters on it. Then, you can add "Mystical Space Typhoon" to your hand from your Deck. Return the "Clock Tower Prison" to your Deck at the end of your next turn.
This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck that contains 8 or more "Destiny HERO" monsters and no monster other than "Destiny HERO" or "Elemental HERO" monsters. (Extra Deck is not included.)

Aster's original combo involving Clock Tower Prison only just got stronger with all the support given to the Destiny HERO Archetype, and the format of the game itself. The Skill single-handedly makes running Destiny HERO - Dreadmaster a viable option, to the point that Decks are now buing built around the card and this Skill. Not to mention, this Skill grants your Deck a free Mystical Space Typhoon--players technically need not used this on Clock Tower Prison if there are more pressing cards to remove from the field.

Mind of the Plana

Character
Aigami.pngAigami
Effect
Send all of your opponent's banished cards to another dimension. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

The increasing number of Decks that used Banished Cards to their benefit brought the sudden rise of popularity for this Skill, and it finally found top tier success through Burning Abyss Decks as well as be a complete counter to Banished Card-based strategies.

From Songstress to Maestra

Character
Zuzu Boyle Icon.pngZuzu Boyle
Effect
Send 1 face-up monster you control whose original name includes "Melodious" to your Graveyard. Then, play 1 "Melodious Maestra" monster from your Deck/Graveyard to your field whose original Level is higher than that of the monster sent to the Graveyard. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than "Melodious" monsters. Can be used once per Duel.

This was the final piece of the puzzle the Melodious Deck needed to finally reach full potential. Every single Melodious Deck was running Zuzu Boyle using this Skill to bring out Bloom Diva, and to this day remains a top-tier threat in Ranked Duels, especially for those who are reliant with Special Summons.

Demon's Resonance

Character
Jack Atlas.pngJack Atlas
Effect
Can be used by returning 1 "Resonator" mosnter in your hand to your Deck. Add 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your Deck to your hand. You cannot activate the effect of the card added by this Skill or a card with the same name during this turn.
This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that follows the conditions below. This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.
● Your Deck contains 8 or more "Resonator" cards in your Deck and does not contain any monsters other than Dragon-type and Fiend-type monsters.
● Your Extra Deck contains "Red Dragon Archfiend" and "Red Nova Dragon" and does not contain any monsters other than DARK Dragon-type or Fiend-type Synchro Monsters.

Even with adjustments to make the Resonator engine less abusable by other archetypes, this Skill still makes Red Dragon Archfiend Decks viable, especially with the introduction of Hot Red Dragon Archfiend as another Extra Deck option to twist around besides the looming Red Nova Dragon play.

Onomatoplay

Character
Yuma and Astral.pngYuma and Astral
Effect
Can be used on turn 3 and onward. Return 1 "Zubaba", "Gagaga", "Gogogo" or "Dododo" monster from your hand to the Deck and add 1 "Zubaba", "Gagaga", "Gogogo" or "Dododo" monster to your hand from the Deck.
This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that follows the conditions below. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
●Your Deck contains 12 or more "Zubaba", "Gagaga", "Gogogo" or "Dododo" monsters.
●Your Deck contains 2 or more "Utopia" Xyz monsters and does not contain anyn Rank 5 or higher monsters except for "Number" or "ZW" monsters.

Even after a sizable change in how the Skill Works as a restriction, and the shift in the meta game, Yuma and Astral are still the best users of the Onomatopeia (Zubaba, Gagaga, Gogogo, Dododo) and Utopia archetypes. If anything, it may be the part of the strategy that single-handedly keeps them a major threat in Ranked Duels.

Galaxy Photon

Character
Kite Tenjo Icon.pngKite Tenjo
Effect
Return 1 “Galaxy” or “Photon” monster from your hand to your Deck and add 1 “Galaxy” or “Photon” Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than LIGHT and "Number" monsters. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

More often than not, this Skill can catch players off-guard if they cannot deal with the combo Kite Tenjo can pull off at Turn 1 that can immediately bring out Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. This Skill can easily get them crucial cards that the opponent cannot respond to, like a Photon monster that can set up an Xyz Summon into Starliege Lord Galaxion, Galaxy Cyclone for back row removal and Photon Stream of Destruction.

Destiny Draw: Monster Reborn

Characters
Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi Jaden Yuki.pngJaden Yuki Yusei Fudo.pngYusei Fudo
Yuma and Astral.pngYuma and Astral Yuya Sakaki Icon.pngYuya Sakaki ---
Effect
Can be used before your normal draw if your Life Points are at 2500 or below. Your normal draw this turn will be "Monster Reborn" from your Deck. If your opponent controls a monster with 3000 ATK or more, you can use this Skill regardless of your Life Points. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Monster Reborn has become available for all Duelists thanks to the 5th Anniversary Campaign, and immediately makes an imapct by having a dedicated Skill for it. Being able to Special Summon a monster from either player's Graveyard is a game-changing effect, which warranted the card being immediately limited to 1 upon becoming playable outside of the Extra Card function.

A Tier

Master of Rites: Super Soldier
Yugi Muto.pngYugi Muto
Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi
Yugi Muto DSOD.pngYugi Muto (DSOD)
Select 1 Ritual Monster from your hand to the Graveyard and add 1 "Super Soldier Synthesis" from your Deck to your hand.
If you send "Black Luster Soldier" to your Graveyard, you can place 1 face-down "Super Soldier Rebirth" to your field from your hand or Deck.
You can only Special Summon Ritual Monsters during this turn and you can only activate 1 monster's effect during the Main Phase until the Battle Phase.
This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that has a total of at least 9 cards and at least 6 types of "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monsters or monsters that include "Black Luster Soldier" in their card text. Can be used from your 2nd turn onward. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Support for Black Luster Soldier has finally arrived through new cards and a Skill, and has made the archetype viable up to a certain extent. Late game options have increased even more with the release of Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning.
Master of Fusion: Paladin
Yugi Muto.pngYugi Muto
Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi
Yugi Muto DSOD.pngYugi Muto (DSOD)
Return 1 "Dark Magician" or a Spell/Trap Card that contains "Dark Magician" in its name to your Deck from your hand, then add 1 "Buster Blader" from outside of your Deck to your hand, and Set 1 "Polymerization" to your Spell & Trap Zone. During the turn you use this Skill, you can only Special Summon 1 monster, and during your opponent's next turn, you cannot Special Summon any monsters.
This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.
This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that meets the following conditions.
● The Deck cannot include two copies of the same card, except for DARK Spellcaster-Type monsters.
● There are no Fusion Monsters other than "Dark Paladin" in the Extra Deck.
Reason
This Skill aims to make a Dark Paladin Deck viable, combining two self-sufficient archtypes to surprise the enemy. Combine this with the effect of Buster Dragon to maximize the effect of Dark Paladin for raw power.
Harpies' Hunting Grounds
Mai Valentine.pngMai Valentine Can only be used at the beginning of the Main Phase of your first turn. Return 1 card from your hand to your Deck and place 1 "Harpies' Hunting Ground" to your Field Zone, from your Deck. If you control a Field Spell, place it in the Graveyard.
Reason:
This Skill was effectively nerfed, targeting the back row clearing power of the Harpies, and reducing the strength Mai players can have on Triamid Decks. However, the titular Field Spell is still a very powerful card, so if you only one copy or none at all, but still want that power to destroy Spells and Traps while swarming the field with Harpies, this Skill is still viable.
Mind Scan
Pegasus.pngMaximillion Pegasus From the third turn and onward, you can see the opponent's set cards as long as your Life Points are 3000 or higher.
Reason
An early-game Skill that provides critical information, this will let you plan ahead if the opponent sets any cards, may it be Monster, Spell or Trap. With other Skills being nerfed, this card can be a great substitute. Decks like Water XYZ, Harpies, Aromages and Magnet Warriors benefit from this greatly.
Miracle Fusion Time!
Jaden Yuki.pngJaden Yuki
Jaden:Yubel.pngJaden/Yubel
Can be used if your Life Points decrease by 1000. instead of doing a normal draw, "Miracle Fusion" is added to your hand from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Given how Fusion-focused Jaden is with "Elemental HERO," getting Miracle Fusion instantly can be an instant game-changer. Consider running this Skill when you run a pure Elemental HERO Deck that have powerful effects with its Fusion Monsters.
Cyber Style Evolution
Zane Truesdale.pngZane Truesdale At the beginning of the Duel, add 1 "Cyber Emergency" and "Power Bond" to the bottom of your Deck.
In addition, the following effect can be used twice per turn and thrice per Duel.
Select 1 "Cyber Dragon" on your field and change its Level to 5.
This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that has 12 or more Dragon-Type or Machine-Type "Cyber" monsters. (Extra Deck does not count)
Reason
With the arrival of Cyber Dragon Nova, this archetype brings out more strategies for a Cyber Dragon player to explore. While this Skill opens up possibilities for Xyz Summoning, having the ability to use one of the strongest Fusion Spells in the game in Power Bond gives extreme firepower; sometimes enough to commit to a One-Turn Kill with Cyber Twin Dragon, Cyber End Dragon or Chimeratech Rampage Dragon.
Dominance of Darkness
Supreme King Jaden Icon.pngSupreme King Jaden Reveal 1 "Evil HERO" Fusion Monster in your Extra Deck. Then, place all of the Fusion Materials specifically listed on that card from outside of your Deck to your Graveyard. When using this Skill a second time in a Duel, you cannot select a Fusion Monster with the same name as for the first use.
This Skill can be used once per turn. This Skill can be used when you begin a Duel with a Deck that meets the following conditions.
● Your Deck contains 5 or more "Evil HERO" monsters and contains no monsters other than "Elemental HERO" monsters or "Evil HERO" monsters.
● Your Extra Deck contains 5 or more "Evil HERO" monsters and contains no Fusion Monsters other than "Evil HERO" monsters.
Reason
The adjustments made to this Skill made it easier to conduct Fusion Summons, especially with Supreme King Jaden using different kinds of "Elemental HERO" and "Evil HERO" monsters, and a penchant for using Dark Fusion and especially Dark Calling.
Burning Soul
Jack Atlas.pngJack Atlas Can be used if you only control 1 DARK Dragon-Type Synchro Monster with 3000 or more ATK. Return 1 card from your hand to your Deck and play 1 Level 4 or lower Tuner monster from your Graveyard in Defense Position, but negate its effects.
If the monster you control is "Red Dragon Archfiend", you can select up to 2 monsters to play when using this Skill. Monster(s) played with this Skill cannot be Tributed, and during the turn you use this Skill, you cannot Normal or Special Summon any monster except Synchro Monsters that list a Synchro Monster as material.
This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck that contains no Tuner monsters other than "Resonator" monsters. (Extra Deck does not count). This Skill can be used once per Duel.
Reason:
While being able to Special Summon two Tuners from the Graveyard is beneficial, this Skill can sometimes restrict your Deck to a singular and predictable playstyle. Only two Synchro Monsters can benefit from this effect: "Red Nova Dragon" and "Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Bane".
Set! Delta Accel!
Antinomy Icon.pngAntinomy At the beginning of the Duel, add 1 "T.G. Halberd Cannon," 1 "T.G. Blade Blaster," 1 "T.G. Power Gladiator," 1 "T.G. Wonder Magician," and 1 "T.G. Recipro Dragonfly" to your Extra Deck.
In addition, you can use this effect during the turn you have Synchro Summoned 2 or more "T.G." Synchro Monsters. Return 1 "T.G." monster from your hand to your Deck and play 1 "T.G. Recipro Dragonfly" from your Extra Deck.
This Skill can only be used once per turn.
Reason
The "T.G." archetype has one of the most potent abilities to go into a Synchro Summon. The cards that the Skill provide is more than enough support, and players can use this Skill once a turn, making sure T.G. players can continuously conduct Synchro Summons.
Gateway to the Another Dimension
Trey Icon.pngTrey Send 1 monster from your Deck / Extra Deck to your Graveyard and change the Level of all monsters on your field to the Level / Rank of the monster you have sent to the Graveyard. If you send a monster to your graveyard from your Deck, you can send 1 monster to your Graveyard from your hand.
This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that follows the conditions below.
● Your Deck / Extra Deck contains no monsters other than "Chronomaly" monsters or LIGHT "Number" monsters.
● Your Deck contains 12 or more "Chronomaly" monsters
Reason:
While locked behind a Chronomaly XYZ Deck, being able to change all the monsters on your field into the same level opens up some crazy plays is dangerous in its own right. No other Xyz-based archetype has that capacity to change the levels of its monster depending on what it needs.
Shell of a Ghost
Kalin.pngKalin Kessler Can be used if you have 0 cards in your hand and you only control Infernity monsters. You can take 1 "Infernity Launcher" from your Deck and place it at the top of your Deck. Then place 1 "Infernity Launcher" from outside your Deck at the bottom of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason:
The moment a Kalin Kessler Infernity player has no cards in his hand, expect them to start popping off. This Skill even makes use of one of the archetype's best cards in Infernity Launcher, preparing you for your next turn to pressure the opponent
Pendulum Gazers
Yuya Sakaki Icon.pngYuya Sakaki At the beginning of the Duel, add a Pendulum Zone to your field. In addition, the following effect can be used only once on turn 3 or onward if you have "Stargazer Magician" or "Timegazer Magician" in your Pendulum Zone. Add 1 face-up Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand. Until the end of the next turn, you cannot Summon the card added to your hand by this Skill or a card with the same name except for Pendulum Summoning, and you cannot activate their effects.
Can be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck that contains 9 or more "Performapal" monsters, "Magician" Pendulum Monsters, or "Odd-Eyes" Monsters (Extra Deck does not count).
Reason:
While having access to non-Spell/Trap Pendulum Zones, when you fulfill the conditions you get to recycle a Pendulum Monster face-up from your Extra Deck. Never mind that you have to wait until your next turn until you can use or summon it; it can have other uses, like being discarded or used as Fusion Material.
Turning Up The Heat!
Yuya Sakaki Icon.pngYuya Sakaki At the beginning og the Duel, add 1 "Stargazer Magician and 1 "Timegazer Magician" to your Deck. Then, if you have two or less "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" in your Deck, add 1 "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" to your Deck.
In addition, if you begin the Duel with a Deck that contains no monsters other than "Performapal" monsters, "Magician" Pendulum Monsters, or "Odd-Eyes" monsters, add a Pendulum Zone to your field.
Reason:
This Skill encourages using the Pendulum Magicians more than the Performapal monsters, but the viability is still there. Stargazer Magician and Timegazer Magician are some of the easiest cards to run in a Pendulum Deck, so this is a great Skill for those who want to be more familiar with how Pendulum Summoning works in Duel Links.
Smile World
Yuya Sakaki Icon.pngYuya Sakaki Add 1 "Smile World" to your hand from outside of your Deck. If you activate this Skill, you can only activate or use the effect of "Smile" Spell/Trap cards until the end of your opponent's next turn. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
The Skill is fine it itself, but players found out that it has a unique interaction with the Spirit Monster "Amano-Iwato", and it became a unique lockdown combo that prevents players from activating monster effects.
Neo New Sylvio
Sylvio Sawatari Icon.pngSylvio Sawatari At the beginning of the Duel, add 1 "Yosenju Shinchu L", and 1 "Yosenju Shinchu R" to the bottom of your Deck. In addition, the following effect can be used once per Duel after your Life Points decrease by 2000. Return 1 "Yosenju" card in your hand to your Deck and add 1 "Yosenju Oroshi Channeling" to your hand from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck that contains at least 9 "Yosenju" cards. (Extra Deck does not count.)
Reason:
Yosenjus have been a sleeper archetype that can take over games by surprise, and the introduction of Pendulum Summoning has given them a massive buff that places them as a viable competitive Deck in Ranked Duels. Being able to add a Spell Card from outside the Deck that can fill both Pendulum Zones at once is key for Yosenjus' ability to swarm the field.
Gong Won't Move!
Gong Strong Icon.pngGong Strong Can be used once per turn if you control a monster in Defense Position. Increase the DEF of all monsters you control by 500 until the end of your opponent's turn. You cannot declare an attack on the turn you use this Skill. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck that does not contain Spell/Trap Cards. This Skill can be used only twice per Duel.
Reason:
Superheavy Samurais are already annoying enough with their innate control over the field while not needing Spells or Traps in their Decks, on top of having very high DEF that most monsters cannot break without stat increases. While you may have to wait for a turn to attack with your DEF-boosted monsters, this enhances the defensive playstyle Gong and his signature archetype are known for.
Contract Procrastination
Declan Akaba Icon.pngDeclan Akaba Can be used at the beginning of your turn if you have 1 or more "Dark Contract" card on your field. Skip the Standby Phase of this turn. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason:
Being able to constantly skip the Standby Phase and minimize card costs like the Dark Contract, or maybe even a card like Golden Castle of Stromberg (which was itself a popular strategy to run with Declan) was too powerful, so it was given a once-per-Duel effect. Still, considering how fast Declan and D/D/D Decks can end the game through sheer power, this is still a good Deck to run if you plan on lasting a turn longer, or if you want to keep increasing your Life Points with Oracle King D'Arc.
The Tie that Binds
Until the end of your turn, the ATK of all face-up monsters on your field increases by the number of monsters on your field times 100. This Skill can only be used once per turn.
Yugi Muto.png Jaden Yuki.png Jaden:Yubel.png
Jesse Anderson.png Yusei Fudo.png Yuya Sakaki Icon.png

Considering that most of the characters that have this Skill can easily Special Summon and fill the field, this Skill can provide the last bit of boost to win the game. This will work even more on Decks that favor heavy offense and firepower.
Grit
If you had 4000 or more Life Points at the start of that turn, your Life Points will not fall below 1 for one time only. When this Skill is applied, you can only Special Summon 1 monster until the end of your next turn. This Skill will only activate once per Duel.
Joey Wheeler.png Tristan Taylor.png Bonz.png Jaden Yuki.png Jaden:Yubel.png Jesse Anderson.png Zane Truesdale.png Jack Atlas.png Luna.png Leo.png Joey Wheeler (DSOD).png Tea Gardner DSOD.png Gong Strong Icon.png

Sometimes, all you need is a single Special Summon to turn things around, and there are a plenty of Deck and Archetypes that enable that playstyle and make that lone Special Summon count.
Swing into Action! Pendulum Summon!
At the beginning of the Duel, add a Pendulum Zone to your field. This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that has 12 or more Pendulum Monsters (Extra Deck does not count).
Yuya Sakaki Icon.png Zuzu Boyle Icon.png Gong Strong Icon.png Sylvio Sawatari Icon.png Declan Akaba Icon.png

Only those from ARC-V can use this Skill, and for good reason; they provide Pendulum Zones outside of your Spell and Trap Zones, and there are more archetypes of Pendulum Monsters are coming out that none of the current lineup of Duelists exclusively support.

B Tier

Supreme King's Castle Revelation
Supreme King Jaden Icon.pngSupreme King Jaden Can be used by revealing 1 “Polymerization” Spell Card or “Fusion” Spell Card in your hand when you have a no Field Spell on your field. Play "Supreme King’s Castle" from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Provides an ATK boost for a monster, and Fusion Monsters restricted with "Dark Fusion" can now use "Polymerization" or other "Fusion" Spell Cards.
Malicious Hero
Supreme King Jaden Icon.pngSupreme King Jaden At the beginning of the Duel, add 2 "Evil HERO Malicious Edge" and 1 "Dark Fusion" to your Deck. Then, add 1 "Evil HERO Malicious Fiend"to your Extra Deck.
In addition, the following effects can be used once per Duel if you control "Supreme King's Castle."
●Return 1 "Evil HERO Malicious Edge in your Deck and add 1 Level 6 Fiend-type monster to your hand from your Deck. If the monster is an "Evil HERO" monster, you can add it to your hand regardless of its Level.
●Return 1 or more Fiend-type monster(s) whose total Levels equal 7 or more to your Deck from your hand and add 1 "Evil HERO Malicious Edge" to your hand from your Deck.
Reason
The perfect support for a Deck that focuses on Fusion-based Fiends, or anyone that wants to dabble witht "Evil HERO" monsters in general.
Relinquished Puppet
Quattro Icon.png Quattro Send 1 Level 8 "Gimmick Puppet" monster in your hand or Deck to your Graveyard. Then, play 1 "Gimmick Puppet Des Troy" from outside your Deck. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than "Gimmick Puppet" monsters and DARK "Number" monsters.
This Skill can be used once per Duel.
Reason
Quite possibly the best Skill Quattro has, but only if you build a Gimmick Puppet Deck on him.
Handless Combo Infinity
Kalin.pngKalin Kessler Begin the Duel with 0 cards in your hand and "Infernity Doom Dragon" on your side of the field.
Reason
You already start the Duel with a massive Synchro Monster on the field, and no cards in your hand to kick off the Handless playstyle Kalin is known for.
Scorn of Ultimate Defeat
Seto Kaiba (DSOD).pngSeto Kaiba (DSOD) Can be used on turn 6 and onward. Add 1 "Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon" to the top of your Deck. In addition, add "Chaos Form" to your hand from outside of the Deck if your opponent controls monsters with 3500 or higher DEF. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
This is a Skill meant to break through high DEF or stall monsters, with one of the most powerful Ritual Monsters currently playable in the game.
Memories of a Pharaoh: Obelisk the Tormentor
Seto Kaiba (DSOD).pngSeto Kaiba (DSOD) Can be used Turn 5 and onward. This Skill can only be used once per Duel. Instead of conducting your normal draw, draw "Obelisk the Tormentor" from the Pharaoh's memory.
The following effect can be used only once during this turn. If you Tribute Summon "Obelisk the Tormentor", 1 monster whose original card name is "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" can be treated as 3 Tributes.
In addition, if you Tribute 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" to Tribute Summon "Obelisk the Tormentor", your "Obelisk the Tormentor" will be sent to your Graveyard at the end of your turn.
Reason
A surprise Skill that allows the ability to easily summon Kaiba's signature Egyptian God Card. You get one turn with Obelisk the Tormentor on the field, but you only need a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to bring it out. To top it off, there is no restriction placed on any Special Summons, so you can still activate Obelisk's effect.
Baggy Sleeves
Bandit Keith.pngBandit Keith If your Level 7 or higher monster is destroyed by battle, your normal draw in the next Draw Phase becomes 2 cards. This Skill will only activate once per Duel.
Reason
Most Decks in the current meta game involve Level 7 or higher monsters. Getting a +1 on your next Draw Phase is a great way to rebound.
Master of Rites
Yami Yugi.pngYami Yugi
Pegasus.pngMaximillion Pegasus
Alexis Rhodes.pngAlexis Rhodes
Can be used each time your Life Points decrease by 1000. Return 1 card from your hand to your Deck and choose 1 of the following:
● Add 1 random Ritual Monster from your Deck to your hand.
● Add 1 random Ritual Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.
This Skill can only be used twice per Duel.
Reason
There are not a lot of Skills that provide help to Ritual Monster-based Decks, often seen as one of the worst forms of Special Summon. This one focuses on the more traditional form of Ritual Summoning.
Master of Rites II
Alexis Rhodes.pngAlexis Rhodes Begin Duel with the Continuous Spell "Ritual Cage" activated.
Reason
Alexis automatically having Ritual Cage out means her Ritual Monsters are immune to targeted effects and card destruction. She also doesn't receive battle damage involving her Ritual Monsters, providing some defense as well.
Endless Trap Hell
Odion.pngOdion Can be used when you have 3 or more Trap Cards in the Graveyard. Randomly add 1 Trap Card from your Graveyard to your hand. Then, return all other Trap Cards in your Graveyard to your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
Even in a fast-paced meta, Traps can be as equally annoying; Odion's Skill lets him refresh the Trap Cards that he needs the most.
Pendulum Recovery
Zuzu Boyle Icon.pngZuzu Boyle Increase your Life Points by x500 the number of Pendulum Summoned monsters during the turn. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
Reason
If you play your cards right, you can instantly save yourself through Pendulum Summoning, with a possible maximum of 1500 Life Points gained when you get to Pendulum Summon on all Monster Zones.
Soldier to Lord
Aporia.pngAporia Can be used if you control only 1 monster. Send 1 face-up "Meklord Army" monster on your field to your Graveyard and play 1 "Meklord Emperor" based on the list below. This Skill can only be used once, and only if you begin the Duel with a Deck that contains no monsters other than "Meklord" monster (Extra Deck does not count).
● "Meklord Army of Wisel" : "Meklord Emperor Wisel"
● "Meklord Army of Skiel" : "Meklord Emperor Skiel"
● "Meklord Army of Granel" : "Meklord Emperor Granel"
Reason
Perhaps the best Skill to use on a Meklord Deck, this is basically a means to level the Meklord Army monsters into Meklord Emperor monsters, gaining the capacity to absorb Synchro Monsters as Equip cards and make themselves even more powerful.
